The Librem 5 selfie camera used to be useful only outside in the daylight, but with some gain and exposure adjustments you can now make penguin selfies in the middle of the night too!

0.10.1 is out 🚀 : source.puri.sm/Librem5/phosh/-

Other changes will take some more time so let's release and fixes, updated translations and automatic built-in display rotation.

If you have a hard time calling me in the next days it's because we're reworking the way incoming calls are handled in / - so you can jump back and forth between locked and unlocked shell (please excuse the video quality). Now we need to fix make it look pretty.

Over the past 15 years of using #XMPP, I've seen many messengers come and go. People complain about the hassle of switching messengers, but many express a preference for the "simplicity" of gated gardens.... Do they count the cost of switching as well?

A truly sustainable messenger can only be a decentralized protocol, not just an app.

A few days ago I had an idea for a simple e-ink project and found Inkplate - an Open Hardware design with ESP32 and recycled Kindle displays.

Programmed it to wake up daily at midnight to download a PGM image over WiFi (gitlab.com/dos1/kartka) from a server which checks some stuff like trash collection schedule. Should last years on a single battery charge.

Check it out if you look for a super approachable way to build some e-ink stuff! inkplate.io/

Besides plenty of fixes can now be a agent (so location services can work) and has support for reboot/shutdown dialogs (which are used when e.g. gnome-software wants to reboot or when you shut down the system from the menu).

(it's 8-bit 4208x3120 GRBG - and you'll probably notice autofocus phase pixels that we don't handle in any way just yet :))

I know next to nothing about photography and made no manual processing, so someone with some knowledge will likely get a better photo. If you want to play with it, here's the RAW: dosowisko.net/kwiatek.raw + black frame: dosowisko.net/black0.pgm

Autofocus support can't get soon enough - turns out that trying to take a focused macro shot with manual focus controlled by typing values into the terminal is kinda cumbersome 😂

...but spring is here, as seen by the camera!

@archit3ct

Fully agree with you: and actually help each other and we need both to fight with the walled gardens of and :

However I often see people saying that they have almost the same specs: same CPU and same amount of RAM.

So i wanted to see if developing new system modal dialogs for becomes simpler (and less code) with the recent changes so i took a stab at the EndSessionDIalog:

vs

aka mode works fine on both for light tasks. But what is "light"? This is where they differ.

(left) smoothly plays two videos simultaneously (one of which is 60 fps), whereas is struggling with single 30 fps video.

Why? Librem 5 has 30% faster CPU clock speed, 140% faster RAM standard, roughly double the GPU performance. More details: forums.puri.sm/t/comparing-spe.

works fine on both with original Pinephone USB-C Docking Bar.

(left) and (right) are usable as computers for light tasks.

is the desktop version with all you want.

Can your do this?

if you only want to disable that for the on screen keyaboard you can use

gsettings set org.sigxcpu.feedbackd.application:/org/sigxcpu/feedbackd/application/sm-puri-squeekboard/ profile silent
