Falls soetwas in zwischen (unter Debian) reibungslos funktionieren sollte, wäre ich extrem interessiert.

Es sollte z.B. einen network namespace "backend network" geben. In diesem wäre dann ein Benutzer "mysql" eingesperrt gewesen und hätte nur ein entsprechendes Interface gesehen.

In einem anderen network namespace wäre z.B. ein Benutzer mit nginx gewesen.

als root hätte ich zwischen den network namespaces routing und firewalling einrichten wollen.

Die nicht-priviligierten Benutzer sollten auch docker container starten können und natürlich nicht die namespaces verändern können.

Ist schon wieder mal etwas her, aber so wie ich das erinnere gab es einfach kein Werkzeug, um network namespaces so zu erzeugen, dass sie für verschiedene Benutzer benutzbar sind.

Ich meine, ich wollte soetwas machen, wie network namespaces beim Start erzeugen und dann den unterschiedlichen Benutzern mit nicht priviligierten Containern zur Verfügung stellen.

Leider funktioniert docker als nicht-root noch nicht so, wie ich mir das wünschen würde.

Beim Aufbau von Netzwerken zwischen verschiedenen (nicht-root) Benutzern innerhalb des gleichen Servers bin ich da recht schnell an Grenzen gestoßen.

@scops I tried all I found on my desktop and got stuck with #Mirage which now seems to be maintained as a fork called #Moment.

I really do not remember why I stopped using #nheko and preferred #mirage.

I guess both clients improved a lot since I first looked at them. Maybe #nheko really is the better option now.

Would be interesting how they compare in the aspect of ressource usage and integration (notification to phosh).

Looking for information and a way to improve the situation I found that the #nexdock360 can only deliver 5W 5V/1A https://nexdock.com/support-nexdock-360/connecting-other-devices/ which isn't enough to run the #Librem5 https://forums.puri.sm/t/librem5-does-not-charge-through-nexdock360/16977/12?u=chrichri . For comfortable headroom for charging I would need 3A. Using a usb-c dock with hdmi and usb-c (keyboard/touchpad) connection to the N360 seems to work and keeps at least the charging level of the Librem5.

The #matrix Alpha-feature in #Chats on the #Librem5 does not support verification, yet, and didn't work reliably enough for me. I started testing #Moment https://gitlab.com/mx-moment/moment/ a fork of #Mirage and found it working well so far.

I guess it would be a funny experience if you'd re-toot-ed your old toots from the export automatically.

Would be a little like https://www.tagesschau.de/thema/tagesschau_vor_20_jahren/ and probably you'd find some jewels to comment on looking back at them.

Toots could be marked as "historic" with the date mentioned the original toot had (would split some toots in more parts probably).

Sounds like a nice little python project ;-) ...

You wrote that you installed Signal Desktop. My (very short) Signal experience has been that all the people having my phone number in their address book got notified I'd be starting to use Signal (imho against the gdpr) and that my » Signal Desktop stopped working « because I had stopped running the android client. I didn't know that Signal Desktop does not work without a android/ios client regularly logged in to Signal.

I understand your point, but it doesn't matter to me: I'm just not available on proprietary, centralized services. If people insist to not use one of the services I'm reachable on they have to talk to me in person. If I provide my phone number people can sms or call me. Works perfectly for me.

Yes, I suffer sometimes, but at the same times I smile, because I'm away from the g surveillance capitalism ecosystem. All the custom roms only exist because google allows it and they help to keep critical people inside the ecosystem - my 5 cent.
