Huawei of course forced a new update on my phone, which of course installed 8 additional apps that I've zero use for...

@renniezen I am disappointed in absolutely every mobile phone company and will probably be using custom roms on every phone have until I get a Linux phone. Unfortunately there are still no usable Linux phones on the market but I can't wait for that to change

@gloopsies @renniezen Objection! Some of us on the #librem5 team use our Linux phones just fine!

@dcz @renniezen as much as I want to join the team it's way too expensive for basically a couple of years old mid
-range phone with basically no apps

@linmob @dcz @renniezen no apps people use like what's app, viber, bank apps, any social networks and many many others

@gloopsies @linmob @dcz @renniezen what's app = no, no, because of privacy.

banking = browser (plus chiptan)
social network = tootle
im = matrix (moment/mirage)
email = geary

Yes, I suffer sometimes, but at the same times I smile, because I'm away from the g surveillance capitalism ecosystem. All the custom roms only exist because google allows it and they help to keep critical people inside the ecosystem - my 5 cent.

@chrichri @linmob @dcz @renniezen I might enjoy using Matrix and Mastodon, but most of my friends don't. Plus when I meet new people I can't force them to use Matrix.

@gloopsies @linmob @dcz @renniezen

I understand your point, but it doesn't matter to me: I'm just not available on proprietary, centralized services. If people insist to not use one of the services I'm reachable on they have to talk to me in person. If I provide my phone number people can sms or call me. Works perfectly for me.
