@eff excellent to hear!
EFF’s browser extension HTTPS Everywhere just got even better! We’ve partnered with DuckDuckGo to incorporate its Smarter Encryption rulesets into HTTPSE, giving users greater coverage for connecting to safer, encrypted versions of the websites they visit. https://www.eff.org/press/releases/eff-partners-duckduckgo-enhance-secure-browsing-and-protect-user-information-web
In case anyone wants to try out receiving MMS messages on their #librem5 I just wrote down the steps needed for that here, still unofficial and hacky but it does work: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/chatty/-/issues/30#note_151962 #GNU #Linux #ModemManager #libqmi #mmsd #chatty #freesoftware
Librem 14 Rave
"Now that shipping of the Librem 14 to customers is imminent we should talk about some more details and enhancements we made."
And from the Vice article that broke the story: "Among the thousands of other data points, vehicle location data is transmitted on a constant and near real time basis while the vehicle is operating." https://www.vice.com/en/article/k7adn9/car-location-data-telematics-us-military-ulysses-group
@danie10 does it allow import of pwsafe files?
To the tech community let's stop using the phrase "This is or isn't my daily driver". This is terrible and who should have say three cars in the garage and only use the Prius for Groceries, the Porsche for Highway driving, the the Tahoe for going skiing. That's for rich people, how about having one daily driver like a Subaru to do it all, there should be one device to rule them all not 3 or 7 that's a nightmare scenario when it comes to maintenance costs, upkeep costs, cross device data loss etc
@purism doesn't make sense why no give librem tunnel users the open vpn cents and keypads file and let them install librem tunnel via open vpn app. I tried that in iOS and doesn't work either, why would that not work??
Why Librem Tunnel is Leaving iOS
"Recently we’ve been forced to remove Librem Tunnel from iOS due to their unfair policies and in this post we’ll explain why."
Oh also I forgot to mention what opensnitch was. It's similar to Little Snitch on Macs, but for Linux. It tracks outgoing network connections and throws up prompts so you can allow/deny them. https://github.com/evilsocket/opensnitch/
libhandy 1.2 just got released! 🎉 It comes with new cool widgets and many fixes, more at https://adrienplazas.com/blog/2021/03/12/libhandy-1-2.html.
@purism it would be nice to see this with a phone dock that's using an Apple Laptop, if you think that could sensibly be rolled out?
All week as we were preparing this article all I could think was: "No disassemble! No disassemble Librem 5!"
Your Smartphone Doesn't Have To Be Glued Shut!
The #librem5 was recently featured in a hardware tear-down video by @iFixit
@agx thats awesome but the volume popup or any switch interaction popup on the little screen should be a banner and not lock the entire usage of the device just because the user is changing the volume, imagine a stuck volume command bricking the use if the device too risky
@ajmartinez @reality2cast @katherined @doc @kyle strongbox is amazing and works on an iphone4 so i can actually use it
@mladen no sounds can be heard on iOS client
@kyle you guys should sell a dock that works for sure through the purism website and that is tested 8)!
