On the #CyberResilienceAct #CRA the @fsfe has already proposed a solution that will lead to more #security while safeguarding #FreeSoftware (#OpenSource):

* Liability should be shifted to those *deploying* Free Software instead of those *developing* Free Software and

* Those who significantly financially benefit from this deployment should make sure the software becomes CE-compliant

libcamera-v0.1.0 is now available.

git.libcamera.org/libcamera/li

This release brings in lots of updates to core, and pipeline support, and crucially takes the next step towards better integration for applications by moving to a new structure for soname updates. Now that we have ABI checks in place the soname will only be updated when we detect an ABI change to help applications continue to link against libcamera for longer.

If your device has a notch or cutout and you want to handle it automatically check phosh.mobi/posts/notch-support on how to describe the display properties.

If you want to prevent phosh from taking notches into account when laying out elements in the top bar use

@purism

This week marks 18 months since I have been using a #librem5 as a daily driver. The first few months were probably the roughest, but I have not needed to use Android at all in those 18 months.

Today, I actually find it quite useable! It just works as a phone, and I can do everything I used to do on my Android Phone on it.

This week I will be on a conference in Italy only using the #Librem5.
The last few weeks with the L5 gave me enough confidence that I think this should work.
Thanks to the lockscreen PDF plugin train and conference tickets are quickly accessible, all my email accounts from work I can access with Geary and the camera is good enough to take notes of some slides.

@kop316 @marcellinusme Also an important point to some of us: AOSP is open-source, but its development is quite locked down, and only serves Google's interests... Working on a Linux-based distro gives developers more leverage to contribute and shape the ecosystem in a way that benefits the community, rather than one single company

While at that I put notifications and media player widget into the same
scrolled window and have that use more vertical space so things are (hopefully) less clumsy to use.

While one could get back to an ongoing call on 's lockscreen by swiping
to the right it wasn't clear if there was still a call ongoing. This will be
improved by showing a notification on the lockscreen making it hard to miss (and which we can likely also use to switch between calls once the calls app supports it):

Simplifying audio device selection in (which also needs a tweak in to get nice icons on too):

Biggest downside of running on my phone and laptop: you sometimes try to swipe away notifications on the laptop although it's not a touchscreen 😜 - just happened again .

The transition between the normal and HC theme is now supported by an animation making it less surprising (video is at 2 x speed):
