A short summary of #PureOS changes for June: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/librem5-base/-/wikis/PureOS-June-2022 :
When discussing something completely different (#xmpp) with @debacle at Debian Reunion in HH I remembered that I started #erlang bindings for #gobject #introspection a while back. So I pulled out that code on my way back, decrufted it a bit and it can now create objects and call methods. It needs way more work but it's starting to do useful things:
phosh 0.20.0~beta1 is out 🚀📱 :
Couple of days late due to #Debian Reunion in HH but here we go:
* swipe gestures on top and bottom bar
* quick settings and top bar on lock screen
* Revamp settings menu
* Lots of detail fixes
It's a beta since we want to put some final touches on gestures and top-bar to not regress (see https://gitlab.gnome.org/groups/World/Phosh/-/milestones/2#tab-issues).
Check out the full release notes https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.20.0_beta1 for details.
phosh 0.17.0 is out 🚀📱 :
The release is a bit smaller than usual but syncing up with #GNOME 42 is well worth it:
* Add mobile data (or rather lack thereof) indicator
* Implement portal access API
* Sync up with GNOME 42 changes
Check out the full release notes https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.17.0 for details.
phosh 0.16.0 is out 🚀 :
* Nicer (fading) labels in the overview (by @KekunPlazas )
* Keypad can shuffle the buttons
* More style refresh by Sam
Check out the full release notes https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.16.0 for details.
I used that to explore completion via #fzf and a simple word list a bit. Turns out it does quite well for German due to the rather long words, not so well for English. But now I have the problem partitioned between the on screen keyboard side and what is needed on the completion side in my head.
Heads up: phosh-osk-stub moved out of #phosh's repo and to: https://gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/phosh-osk-stub as it acquired more and more cruft while debugging some (now fixed) touch input related issues in #gtk 4.
Mostly mentioning it here since some distros (such as #debian) used it in the past on architectures that had trouble building #rust to fulfill session dependencies (which is not an issue anymore nowadays) so it can safely be dropped.
If you want to be always up to date about what's cooking for the next #phosh release (besides what's already merged to the main branch) check out phosh-next: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/phosh-next - it gets all the merge-requests that are waiting for more review, some minor cleanups, etc. The current list of MRs is in the commit message and `debian/changelog`.
Please don't ship that in distributions but additional review, feedback and testing is certainly very welcome.
phosh 0.14.1 is out 🚀 :
It has lock screen phone call improvements, better thumbnails, a "Run command" dialog and lots of fixes for every day use. Check the release notes https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/tags/v0.14.1 for details.
So far #phosh's system prompts had no way to express the input purpose as #GCR used underneath didn't yet support it, hence e.g. a SIM card pin prompt would bring up a full keyboard instead of just a keypad.
After patching #gcr, #phosh, #squeekboard and gnome-settings-deamon this is how it looks like atm:
