If only there was a Tech podcast / show that had...

- No Swearing (kid and work friendly)
- No personal attacks ("Be Excellent To Each Other")
- No political attacks (no matter who you vote for, we're friends)
- Lots of nerdy-ness (goofy and serious)

Shabbat shalom, my friends!

Feeling like going easy for the Friday night dinner. Thinking pizza. Then maybe a movie with the kids and fall asleep on the couch. Sounds gloriously lazy.

Anyone else have appropriately lazy plans for kicking off this most excellent weekend?

Big shout-out to @lunduke for answering this and giving it a community boost for seeing feedback on the idea and giving me more details to consider. youtu.be/fpBakoNt7z4

I was so excited to see it answered!

P.s. Not from Cleveland, but Oklahoma City 😄

Show thread

It's quite fun to watch the videos from @lunduke and @gbryant on #LBRY. I will check their shows more often there from now on. #lunduke #tlg lbry.com

Ok Linux-y friends: who should we be following here?

The "From Mac to Linux" Issue
What you are about to read is a #Linux magazine—with a focus on #Apple computers running #macOS. I know, it's weird. It's extremely weird—like cats and dogs living together weird.

In this free Linux Journal ebook, @kylerankin expounds on some of the lessons he's learned through the years that might be obvious to longtime sysadmins but may be news to someone just coming into this position.

Whenever someone asks me for "supporting data" to back up something I say... it makes me giggle.

Someone over on the tweeters said something that got me thinking...

Before "Google" existed, software was undeniably:

- faster
- more memory efficient
- less DRM-y
- less dependent on services

Maybe we were better at making software before we could "Google" things.

Maybe there's no causation there at all. But, I tell ya, the correlation is bonkers strong.

Personal resolution: search for video content on Peertube/LBRY before jumping straight to invidio.us

Suggestion for Youtubers: upload your content to other platforms as well as Youtube, and encourage your viewers to watch you there instead.

As viewers, we can vote with our views by watching our favourite content creators on those platforms, and if possible make small donations to compensate for the lost ad revenue.

What is more important: Freedom or Truth?

Here's my take:

If you get your podcasts via Apple or Google thingiemadoodles...

I don't judge. The Lunduke Show is there.

Guess which two apps arrived in F-Droid today?

There's a little bug gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroid-websi that means new apps aren't linking properly on the website search.f-droid.org/?q=librem , but you'll find them via the client!

@lunduke Facebook is evil, and at LEAST my family don't use that terrible platform.

*(Can you tell I'm tooting while I watch? 😀 )

@lunduke said this would be, or is about to become something awesome. I didn’t want to miss out on that, so I got onboard as well. Not quite Facebook yet. 😁 6000 people and counting. But it could get there eventually.
