@thomasorus Have you by any chance checked out that new Ubuntu release on the pi? I'm also running Manjaro on mine at the moment but, I would totally switch over if Ubuntu performed better.

Just made my first mobile payment with my bank app straight from the Librem 5 - via Anbox. The last reason to occasionally boot an Android phone just went poof! :)

@purism And here's the connected to a usb-c hub that has a keyboard/mouse connected via usb and driving the external screen via dp-alt-mode. Needs some hacks still but we're getting there:

@kyle Oh man, the Libretto was so cool! Unfortunately I was just a poor kid back when those were around. All I could afford back then, were copies of that huge Computer Shopper magazine... where I could read about and admire things such as the Libretto.

I guess that's one great thing about being an adult, you can generally afford to get the things you want... well within reason that is.

@hamner Awesome work! How's the performance looking?

Managed to get PSP emulation working on the Librem 5!
git clone --recurse-submodules github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp.git
cd ppsspp
sudo apt install clang cmake libgl1-mesa-dev libsdl2-dev libvulkan-dev
./b.sh --rpi64
vi cmake/Toolchains/raspberry.armv8.cmake (add set(PPSSPP_PI_MODEL4 ON))
./b.sh -rpi64

Big news: NLnet/NGI0 PET will fund the development of two new open hardware processor modules compatible with MNT Reform: An NXP LS1028A module developed in partnership with RBZ Embedded Logics and an FPGA module for prototyping with open CPU designs:

@dos Thanks for posting these comparisons! It's really interesting to see how the differences in specifications translate to actual real world performance.

Hopefully at some point Phoronix will create a linux phone variant of their test suite, which I think could go a long way towards further improve comparisons, but also aid HW developers to optimize designs and possibly allow them to better evaluate SOCs when designing hardware.

As for now, these videos are the best we have got.
