@cstanhope @EdS And there are plenty of examples of similar practices in other industries.
For instance, when I wanted CO2 for my beer keg setup, I bought an empty canister and each time I need a refill I turn in one canister and get a pre-filled one in return.
While I know that some of the earliest automobiles were electric vehicles, I still did a double-take when I saw references to EVs in this 1918 ad for engine oil. #EV #vintage #advertisements
After a few false starts, the rug is finally starting to take shape! I think this is going to go pretty quickly at this point. #weaving
Rather than make new devices that will turn into e-waste after the event, we're recycling old price tags into networked conference badges. https://github.com/osresearch/eink-pricetags
I'm now 24 working hours into my rug #weaving project. I had to buy more heddles to weave this dense, wide, large project. I have finished dressing the loom and am finally at the point where I can start weaving the rug itself.
@lwriemen Yes please! I'd love to have the space for a draw loom, but my jack loom is already pushing it.
@awai Congratulations!
@aral We've been testing a *lot* of desktop GNOME apps here over the past few years and making incremental changes (for projects we are involved in) and otherwise made upstream suggestions when we aren't, to make things more adaptive. We started with the default apps we felt were crucial on a phone (like key items in Settings for instance) and continue to branch out.
@yaelwrites I only have my personal experience, but I recommend switching to an analog watch for 2 weeks and keep track of how many times you look at your watch, look away, and realize you don't know what time it is.
I was disturbed by just how much the notification endorphin rush had rewired my brain when I wore a smart watch. I only wear an analog one now.

@leimon @devrtz @trregeagle @purism Also Super-left/right and Shift-Super-left/right to tile windows and move between screens respectively, and Super-up to maximize (especially useful for windows you move back to the phone screen).
@chrichri @trregeagle @purism I also don't use it in tablet mode much. The main use case for me would be reading digital books and magazines, but I prefer the paper versions.
At the #minidebconf in Hamburg last month I deliberately didn't bring my laptop and did all my packaging and light coding on the #librem5 using a #nexdock360.
While it did indeed get a bit hot during compilation, I enjoyed using #phosh in docked mode very much 🚀
@Wildbill I booked a room to get there on Friday and leave Sunday.
Everything about #weaving this rug has been intimidating so far because of the giant scope of the project. For instance it took me almost four hours to wind the warp onto the warp beam. Threading the loom is next and it is equally daunting.
@th @yaelwrites As a famous Foreigner once said: "Don't stop blijven."
@bojkotiMalbona @batalanto @thornedu For what it's worth we'd like to offer TMobile as a network option when we can, it's just not possible at the moment.
@batalanto @thornedu All three US carriers collect and sell customer data, abuse privacy, and have plenty of other problematic practices, but they are the only choices for cellular networks in the US.
The goal with AweSIM and SIMple is to protect personally-identifying customer data from whatever upstream network the service happens to go over.
