That said, you don't need huge powerful but complex tools like or to make your photos look better. Imagine a simple to use app that lets you do basic stuff on the phone, like white balance or contrast correction, which could then take its time exporting at full res with all the heavy noise reduction algos without annoying the user while taking photos.

Does that sound like something you'd like to work on? 😁

For practical reasons, photos that you are processed into JPEGs with lower quality than what the camera can do. There are some (complex) ways in which this processing could be made faster and therefore cram more pixels and algorithms that make things prettier, but meanwhile...

Each photo you take is stored as both raw DNG and processed JPG - so you can go back to raw data and retroactively gain quality. See dosowisko.net/l5/photos/ for an example.

Linux wasn't a "desktop" platform to begin with either so that argument doesn't make sense.

Linux is what we make out of it by contributing to the solution. The Linux kernel has the capability to run well on mobile. We have mobile shells and adaptive toolkits and devices that can run them well. We need to continue to grow the app ecosystem and work on infrastructure bits sure but this very thread proves that this is happening at a nice pace.

I have been daily driving mine since February of this year. Before that, I daily drove the PPP for a year and before that I daily drove the PP for a year.
The was a major step up in quality and usability from day one. I loved my pinephones, but I don't think that I could go back to them.

@deedend @devrtz @purism I encourage everyone to try PureOS on the Librem 5 to judge daily usability of the Librem 5 and if it's "the time yet".

One shouldn't draw that conclusion by looking at other devices (running other distros).

A single missing one line line patch or broken driver can considerably mess up daily usability.

why do people do this??? do you get whipped on your back for every issue open on your repo when working at Microsoft or what

@linmob @s31bz @bradlinder Yeah, the #librem5 is the one phone that most mobian developers currently recommend and use. Both purism and mobian devs are quite active with migrating things into @debian proper. We are aware of the price tag, but would like to reiterate that this actually includes salaries for mobile Linux developers.

I finally got a #librem5 phone not so expensive on #leboncoin (470€)
I tested #PureoOS yesterday and now i test #postmarketos installed in 128Go sdcard.
Tomorrow, i will try #mobian
I am verry happy to found this smartphone

@purism YO! I did a long command and my screen fell asleep and it gave me a notification my nmap command finished running this is SICK! Really loving this Purism Librem 5. Neither #android nor #ios just pure #linux #opensource

I'm sure there's a tendency to always view the past as better, but the social-media-ification of the Internet has really sucked a lot of the joy out of entertaining people. When it was peripheral to the broader Internet, you spent most of your time making stuff. Now you gotta learn 8 to 12 platforms that mostly want you to act like an employee of their algorithm.

I've been rewriting my script, and decided to make a series of shorts instead one longer film. The first film will tackle more serious stuff. Keep fingers crossed that it gets funded, or you can always support me through ko-fi.

Here are some new mockups I made for the storyboard.

Hope your day goes well, I am resting today ❤️

@junocomputers
You get a completely free operating system, please support us in developing it with detailed
reports rather than pushing end user support upstream.

At the very minimum check with the communities upfront how to best interact and supply them with hardware.

Dear @junocomputers if you sell computers and use Free Software Operating systems it is not o.k. to assume you can free ride on community support.

It makes me sad to have mails from users in my inbox that are stuck with an unusable device on a Sunday and are seeking help to get it going again. This is your job.

Please listen to your customer's issue. If it's a software issue in the latest upstream version forward it with a good description.
