@LittleJoeMuc Nope, I've only ever had one Kindle. Still have it - it's old, but it's "jailbroken" and still works fine as a reader, so there's no need to make it an organ donor :)

But from what I've seen on e-radionica forums it should be possible to get a displayless Inkplate, so I'd recommend getting in touch with them.

A few days ago I had an idea for a simple e-ink project and found Inkplate - an Open Hardware design with ESP32 and recycled Kindle displays.

Programmed it to wake up daily at midnight to download a PGM image over WiFi (gitlab.com/dos1/kartka) from a server which checks some stuff like trash collection schedule. Should last years on a single battery charge.

Check it out if you look for a super approachable way to build some e-ink stuff! inkplate.io/

@Lofenyy@mastodon.technology @martijnbraam FYI, phosh just reads those settings the same way GNOME Shell does, so any guides on how to change these things via command line for GNOME Shell will also work for phosh.

@dukethereal Actually I just went to play with some knobs manually out of curiosity in rawtherapee - I guess another reason I shouldn't do that is that I'd always crank the saturation up to 11 :D

@Alexmitter @linmob @danctnix @PINE64 Long time ago - and since recently you don't need to switch to GLES with an env var anymore cause GTK4 does it as a fallback automatically now.

0.10.0 is out 🚀 : source.puri.sm/Librem5/phosh/-

Besides plenty of fixes can now be a agent (so location services can work) and has support for reboot/shutdown dialogs (which are used when e.g. gnome-software wants to reboot or when you shut down the system from the menu).

See above release notes for the full list of changes and contributors.

@purism

@dukethereal With some further (but still automatic) processing with dcraw and GIMP I got this. I don't even try to actually process photos manually; there are way too many knobs to adjust. I have the same problem with tone knobs on guitar effects - I lack the imagination needed to get out of local maxima :D

@dukethereal I used `dcraw -a -H 0 -q 3 -K black0.pgm kwiatek.raw` - so auto white balance, black frame subtraction and that's pretty much it.

(it's 8-bit 4208x3120 GRBG - and you'll probably notice autofocus phase pixels that we don't handle in any way just yet :))

I know next to nothing about photography and made no manual processing, so someone with some knowledge will likely get a better photo. If you want to play with it, here's the RAW: dosowisko.net/kwiatek.raw + black frame: dosowisko.net/black0.pgm

Autofocus support can't get soon enough - turns out that trying to take a focused macro shot with manual focus controlled by typing values into the terminal is kinda cumbersome 😂

...but spring is here, as seen by the camera!

@torbuntu @lowkeylone The wallpaper is set in a regular GNOME way - phosh gets it from the same place GNOME Shell does.

Here comes libadwaita! Read about our plans to make GNOME apps and GTK 4 even better, and about the future of libhandy: adrienplazas.com/blog/2021/03/

@lowkeylone @mobian You don't need to watch for phosh CSS updates if you put your changes into `~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css` which GTK apps like phosh then pick up as an overlay :)

@ozmik @PINE64 I looks like the phone+dock combo doesn't manage to hold stable voltage under 500mA load. You could lower the input current limit on the L5 side, although that will likely make it not enough to actually charge.

@linmob Uh, global scale-to-fit isn't there by default because a) it causes issues b) it will inevitably lead to apps that almost fit and nobody bothers to fix :/

Sneak Peek of the Next PureOS Release on the Librem 5

"With the next release of PureOS, code-named Byzantium, just around the corner, let’s give you a sneak peek of what you can look forward to."

@tristan957@mastodon.social @PublicNuisance@fosstodon.org @ozmik Yeah, it's not as common as it used to be these days, but people really were saying that a lot just because they can't read the specs carefully enough.

@tuxdevices No idea which sensor Mi 9T has - we have S5K3L6XX (which is Samsung, not Sony :))
