@dos @kyle The article cold have been more clear here but I still think another supported device could become a net positive for gnome, phosh and the LinuxMobile ecosystem.

"The Hong Kong-based company is working with a Chinese OEM to make sure that there are native Linux drivers for all the device's hardware." could be promising if native means "mainline".

I'm happy to announce the availability of my new app "eSIM Manager" on postmarketOS! With it you can manage and install eSIMs on your phone running postmarketOS! No more need to boot into Android to do the same!

🎙️ talked to @phosh main developer @agx:

* Getting involved with Phosh and Librem 5 as happy coincidence
* Going from N900 straight to Librem 5
* squeekboard vs. phosh-osk-stub
* Being puzzled by people using Phosh on the PinePhone
* Having a smile on the face when seeing random old phones & tablets with Phosh
* Automatic hardware testing at @purism
* How Phosh gets translated
* Upcoming @FrOSCon 2024
* Lockscreen widgets
* Cellbroadcast

@me Idk about other distros but Debian unstable already has it: buildd.debian.org/status/packa (and of course the phosh nightlly builds have it too: phosh.mobi/posts/phosh-nightly )

@blake Make your shell use the wlr-layer-shell protocol. See how phosh, squeekboard or phosh-osk-stub do it. Alternatively you can get the "shell in a box" in rust using libphosh-rs: gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/libpho

@Baggypants This looks broken on other compositors too. Might be worth reporting to firefox?

When working on the bits for I noticed there's no syntax highlighting in for those so I added some:

github.com/agx/systemd-hwdb-mo

Happy about any improvements as my isn't great.

@fsf remind everyone that GNU-like phones (not iOS and not Android) exist, and are great for !

@agx worked on making #feedbackd a bit more useful and convenient. Some of this landed already and is targeting the next #phosh release
while others might take a bit longer (as they e.g. depend on a calls bug fix release). A short 🧵 👇

I'd read up on alpine packaging or check with them on matrix. You can `git format-patch` the top 3 commits and add them similar to the `0001-waked-support.patch`

@crft I'd just put the 3 topmost commits on top of the alpine package (and add the build-dependeny to libfeedback-dev) and then build on device.

@crft Install the build-dependencies your distro uses for gnome-clocks (the exact command varies per distribution). You then need libfeedback-dev package and it needs to include the vapi bindings.

@crft Yes, either that or you apply the top 3 commits on top of your distributions package.

@ahoneybun You can tweak the scale in phoc.ini. We're currently working out whether we fix the default scale or try to accomodate for less vertical space. Can you please add your device to pad.riseup.net/p/phosh-scales- ?

Our request for a devroom at (17. / 18. of August) just got accepted 🚀 .

If you want to give a talk, do a BoF, round table or similar please add it to mensuel.framapad.org/p/froscon and we'll try to accommodate it in the schedule.
