The Free Software Foundation have put the Librem 5 puri.sm/products/librem-5/ on their Ethical Tech Gift Giving guide for 2019 fsf.org/givingguide/v10/

"Why it's cool: Although it won't be released until Q2 2020, this phone is one to keep an eye on. We're giving it a tentative recommendation because the company has publicly committed to doing the right things for prioritizing user freedom and privacy, and because we have evaluated and endorsed the operating system it will run."

backers in the Birch batch have started sharing unboxing photos azdle.net/2019/11/librem-5-unb (attached CC-BY 2.0) videos peertube.co.uk/videos/watch/55 and positive early impressions reddit.com/r/Purism/comments/e thank you to all our supporters for your patience and excitement 😀

I love this post:

"When we first approached hardware manufacturers almost two years ago with this project most of them instantly said “No, sorry, impossible, we can not help you.”. Others warned us, that it could never work, that it was too complicated, “the industry does not do that” and so forth.

And yet here we are, later than we wanted, but we are actually shipping first hardware! It is possible but it comes at a price."

The software team were busy in October: improved power consumption and thermals, refactored integration between various apps, added new features to keyboard, Settings, Shell and Compositor, squashed bugs and more puri.sm/posts/librem-5-october

The solution to the privacy paradox is convenience. People want convenient products that respect them by default, that they can trust will not exploit them, that allow them to participate in digital society with peace of mind, knowing they are in complete control. puri.sm/posts/avoiding-big-tec librem.one/

We've gotten some questions as to whether @purism laptops are vulnerable to TPM-Fail. We use a different chipset for our TPM so our laptops don't appear to be vulnerable.

And we have exciting Birch updates coming soon!
