@purism I'm waiting to see videos with a working device in hand from people who bought it

@purism That box looks pretty cool, speaking as an enthusiast of cool boxes, I encourage you to make your packaging as awesome as possible, people notice that these days thanks to the popularity of "unboxing" reviews.

My thinkpad X1c came in an awesome box, the thing actually moved like a popup book. People notice :)

long term boxes are awesome also, ones designed with nice interiors, and perhaps functional decorative items like a cloth for the screen etc.

@purism

@vancha @purism

:D Huillands..

@purism I did not recieve that email, and yes I am quite anxious
@purism oh now the email showed up.. oh boy "Your estimated shipping batch:
"Evergreen" Batch - Starts March 31st" I hope my crummy old iphone will keep working till my librem arrives

@netnut404 @purism ordered on 2017-09-15 and when responding to the batch email asked for Aspen, Birch, Chestnut. Getting an "Evergreen" response is disappointing. Hope to actually get a phone eventually...

@purism are you sure, I haven’t received an email?

@purism what if I have not received an email yet?

@purism I never received a batch email notification for my two phones order 1627241193 & 3684836915

@purism Will milled aluminium cases be an option someday? 😉

I assume the Evergreen moulded cases will be plastic.

@molson @purism Why would you prefer plastic cases? Aren't aluminium ones more durable?

@molson @purism thats a point, a milled case compared to a plastic one at the same price? Hope i get money off?

@drewmoore @purism I think plan was always a moulded case. The early ones were probably aluminium because of the ease of going from CAD design to CNC milled aluminium in low quantity and with high precision. Changes could be made easily because they're individually manufactured. Plastic injection moulds are expensive and would not allow an easy change in design like milled aluminium. The current price is in line with a smart phone with a plastic moulded case. I'm OK with that.

@molson

Why plastic?
Only manufacturing process changes, not the materials.

@purism

I could be dead wrong. Maybe they are planning on a metal case for the mass production version.

@purism so I'm "most likely"™ in Evergreen batch. Anyone got in an earlier batch? #librem5

@purism wish i never asked, Talk about about being disappointed, receive an email asking what batch i would like to be in and thought i would play it safe picked Chestnut and now received 2nd email confirming evergreen 😡 wankers!

@purism im starting to think this should be a case for UK trading standards??

@purism Perhaps people have forgotten, original launch date was pushed back 3 times then an email asking what batch you would like to be in? What was the point, they knew how many backers (even though i pre-ordered which is different in contractual law) what dates they were placed, so stop with the bullshit and just send the final email instead of raising expectations!

@purism This would be nice to know. Looking forward to that mail.
