"The Librem 5 is unlike anything else on the market. Not only is it one of the only smartphones on Earth that doesn't ship with Android, a fork of Android, or iOS—Purism's commitment to 100% open software, with no binary blobs..." arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/0

@stevenroose @Muto @jr yes Chatty XMPP should work on a Debian based desktop and will of course work while the Librem 5 is in desktop mode.

@netnut404 hi we are processing all the responses, we are giving people a window to respond and then will get back to everyone with their final batch. You will also get a notification when your phone ships. Thank you for your patience and excitement!

@stevenroose @Muto @jr I will check with the Librem 5 software team and get back to you :)

@micahbp we are looking forward to see more devs add responsive UIs, it's going to be an incredible experience to use the same desktop apps in mobile mode! Hope this helps :) Please ask any more questions. Have you ordered a Librem 5?

@micahbp we maintain a list of tested apps we consider essential to a core phone experience over here and will keep adding to it puri.sm/posts/the-librem-5-app but you have access to most of the Debian ARM repo which will work in desktop mode if the phone meets the min hardware specs. I am personally really excited to use the Librem 5 as my only work and mobile device. Mobile app support comes down to whether the app developer implemented a responsive UI e.g. Fractal and other GNOME apps.

@wnymathguy @copyrights I'll double check with the Librem 5 team on the ground at the factory.

@OTheB@mastodon.technology thank you for the kind feedback, we are really happy with Aspen batch and can't wait to make it even better in future batches!

@vancha hehe we hope to get back to everyone soon, thank you for your patience, support and excitement :D

@copyrights it is metal too, not sure on the exact manufacturing process used to create that effect.

@wnymathguy these photos are an accurate representation of what the kill switches will look like for the Aspen batch. Future revisions may have an improved switch and seal and therefore better water tightness - the uncapped vs capped debate has been confusing.

@Pixeliz3d additional batteries will be sold on our store. Pretty simple to install, power down, take the back plate off, change batteries and you good to go!

@tedpoppke yes, also available globally shipped from USA.
