Had the need to charge an all electric Kia recently and guess what: both the charging stations app and the vendor's app are proprietary so how would I know when charging finished?

Turns out people around figured out the vendor API so I could use that to have a small app to monitor the charging status on my running

@stujr@bsd.cafe

It depends on the carrier, sadly.

AweSIM (our MVNO) and T-Mobile work well (4G and VoLTE working). IIRC Verizon does not work at all (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Shortish impressions from #linuxday

I've took an early enough train so that I would be able to attend the very interesting talk about #libcamera at 10:00

Of course having arrived at the premises I quickly scouted out the stands, and immediately met with some #Debian friends and noticed a huge, but friendly #linux penguin wearing a #froscon shirt :)

Sollte klappen.

For practical reasons, photos that you are processed into JPEGs with lower quality than what the camera can do. There are some (complex) ways in which this processing could be made faster and therefore cram more pixels and algorithms that make things prettier, but meanwhile...

Each photo you take is stored as both raw DNG and processed JPG - so you can go back to raw data and retroactively gain quality. See dosowisko.net/l5/photos/ for an example.

I released a small update (version 0.4.2) to Satellite, my simple #GPS / #GNSS app for #MobileLinux: codeberg.org/tpikonen/satellit (also in #Flathub).

The visible changes are the addition of 'Geoidal separation' field to the display data and a more compact display of various DOP values. As usual, there are also some small bugs fixed, and an update to the Gnome SDK version 45 in the flatpak package.

I had already disabled automatic HighContrast in but the last days were so ☀️ that I flipped it on again.

Thankfully this doesn't need any `gsettings set sm.puri.phosh automatic-high-contrast true` anymore but can be done conveniently in the mobile-setting's sensor panel added by @devrtz in 0.29.0.

@xethos @devrtz thats why i keep my librem.one subscription. No wasted electronics, a steady payment and less a guilt feeling of 'donating' for a service.

@devrtz Purism is doing the right thing by pricing their hardware to support software developers. With Red Hat beginning to pull support from the Linux desktop, we need another company that can fill the gap. @purism is our best hope today.

@julianfairfax @deedend @devrtz @purism

Linux wasn't a "desktop" platform to begin with either so that argument doesn't make sense.

Linux is what we make out of it by contributing to the solution. The Linux kernel has the capability to run well on mobile. We have mobile shells and adaptive toolkits and devices that can run them well. We need to continue to grow the app ecosystem and work on infrastructure bits sure but this very thread proves that this is happening at a nice pace.

@devrtz @julianfairfax @agx @deedend @purism @tbernard well we certainly extend our warmest invitation to anyone wishing to package Flare, Pipeline, or Railway for Debian, or any another distribution!
