In the same spirit as when @lunduke declared ‘Linux Thursdays’, I’m hoping that if we were to declare the ‘Solstinox’ as the time of the season to donate to your favourite Free/Libre Open Source Software projects, it might give a little boost of money to help with further development and improvements and also show the developers that their work is appreciated.

The ‘Solstinox FLOSS Appreciation Donation’ campaign is just a working title for it–perhaps someone can come up with something catchier?

@danrabbit@mastodon.social No. It's a secret.

@ryanfleck :)

Ya know, you're not wrong. The approach you describe is *wonderful*.

For me, personally, though... I get so much communication from others (who are typically pretty anonymous) that I need to quickly sort out the positive from the negative so I can at least attempt to read and respond to the positive ones. Like yours. ;)

@ryanfleck

Yeah, I'm not talking about differing opinions. I don't block people for not having the same ideas as me -- in fact I make a point of following folks that vote/think differently from me. I love new ideas.

I'm talking about blocking people who are mean. Who are clearly just breaking my core rule of "Be Excellent To Each Other." There's just no point in having that sort of hate and negativity around, ya know?

@lwriemen Oh, man. My love for OS/2 runs deep. Such a fun system.

But the Free Software loving part of my brain is made happy by FreeDOS.

How fun would a FreeOS/2 be?!

I was familiar with Ubi Soft's early PC adaptations of Zombi (Dawn of the Dead) and The Howling, but nothing prepared me for their Amstrad CPC game "Manhattan 95". Ooooohhh boy 🤣🤣🤣

@mangeurdenuage

Seems nicer to me to outright block someone. Leaving them unblocked, but ignoring them feels, to me, like leading someone on.

But a straightforward block? Leaves no room for uncertainty. I like that.

Plus, I make it pretty clear that I will happily unblock anyone who decides to stop harassing or being hateful to others. I believe in second (and millionth) chances. ;)

The block button rules.

If people are being mean and unkind? I block em!

Doesn't infringe on their free speech -- they can be as mean and hateful as they like on their own timeline. I just don't need to listen to it. ;)

Now.

Who wants to talk about FreeDOS? :)

Oh, and to answer the original question: I totally have no problem with you getting the show... anywhere. :)

Personally, I would suggest using the official sources (LBRY, YouTube, or RSS feed) just to make sure you get the latest and without editing, etc. But it's ok to get it anywhere. ;)

@naebulys @thegimmickhacker@floss.social

Yeah, it's not an official channel.

There's a lot of "unofficial" ones out there. :)
