Big rumblings in the expansion of the #Fediverse have been happening recently.

#Tumblr has already promised to implement #ActivityPub (the protocol Mastodon uses), which will mean you can follow Tumblr accounts from here and vice versa. And today we a learning that #Flickr is also considering it!

This will be a massive expansion bringing, which obviously carries some uncertainties, but I, for one, welcome our new federation partners.

This is the way the internet is supposed to work.

I have remote content turned off for e-mails, as default. It's incredible how much that is remote content for many newsletters and other e-mails. By the way, I have recently returned to Thunderbird - I'll write more another day!

En del företag är så omtänksamma. De skriver att de saknar mig.

Det påminner mig om hur ofta eller sällan jag kontaktar och kontaktas med bekanta för att ge en hälsning.

I want to tell you the story of Vivienne Malone-Mayes, Texas-born mathemetician and professor, but I don't think you can understand her journey without talking about the #AcademicRacism in which she existed.

I recommend the PIXLS website for anyone who shot photos. It includes a list of free and open software for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. Of course not exhaustive, but a good start. I use several of the listed softwares. pixls.us/

An article on how to write an effective #AltText #ImageDescription for #accessibility...

MAIN POINTS:

• describe the image only, not the photographer credits or keywords
• write a description appropriate to the context (ex., a post about photography vs. a celebrity)
• make it as concise as possible, except if you are transcribing text in an image
• no need to start with "An image of..." as the screen reader says that by default
• end with a period to provide a pause

Så är vi inne i veckan när viss typ av svarthandel är tillåten. Men, det är frivilligt för mig att delta, jag behöver bara svarthandla om det är något jag vill köpa.

I review my settings on Apple devices. In particular iCloud. What is stored or synced. Still I am confused what is really uploaded to iCloud and what will happen when I change settings on one device on the other device. In addition there is the device backup. Generally, Apple devices works very well and user do not need to bother. But when the user do want to bother or understand at least a little how it works, Apple sw is not so user friendly (=non-open).

Over the past few weeks we have seen a massive shift away from a centralized, proprietary social media platform (Twitter) onto a decentralized, federated, open one (Mastodon) that along with a few other indicators points to the pendulum starting to swing back toward an interest in open protocols, networks, and technologies beyond social media.

FYI, starting to see what my gut tells me are "pig butchering" pitches in my DMs here. (Generic complements and requests for "friendship", etc, from attractive strangers)

Be careful.

It will not be a habit, but no rule without exception. So, I show my lunch-dinner plate of today. Before I started to eat. Salmon & Co.
