Autofocus support can't get soon enough - turns out that trying to take a focused macro shot with manual focus controlled by typing values into the terminal is kinda cumbersome 馃槀

...but spring is here, as seen by the camera!

So I spent the last few hours on taking pictures of cats with the rear camera of my Librem 5. Yep, that's my job now.

All credit for the camera support goes to Dorota, Martin and Angus: source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux-n @merge @purism

phoc 0.7.0 has just been released!

This version includes mouse based snap-to-edge for tiling and maximizing; window move & resize fixes for touchscreens; and **big** stability improvements - I haven't seen it crashing a single time for a while now :)

Grab it at source.puri.sm/Librem5/phoc/-/

Here we can see a Plasmus Vulgaris specimen wandering outside of its regular habitat. Carefully testing the waters, encouraged by being docked, it slowly gets to know the unfamiliar surroundings of the phosh environment it found itself in - the other major part of the diverse ecosystem populating the Librem 5.

GTK4's GPU-accelerated GL renderer(s) got a major performance boost in the last few days! Previously it struggled to render simple UIs with single digit FPS on the Librem 5; now it can get pretty fancy :)

phosh running inside a container under phosh, plus phosh's source code in Qt Creator - all on the Librem 5. Perfect for when you want to work on the phone on the phone :D

Here's Plasma Desktop on PureOS Byzantium running on the Librem 5 phone docked to an external display - just because :D @kde@mastodon.technology @purism

"me in the morning, right after I turned the switches on"

This may not be the most impressive winter selfie (it's a 8M sensor outputting 0.3M after all), but you got to start somewhere :)

I did nothing but taking the photo (looped in a script with v4l2-ctl and dcraw; then displayed on screen using Eye of GNOME) - all the credit goes to Dorota and Martin, and the work continues there: source.puri.sm/Librem5/linux-n

Spent some time on getting my old Librem 5 port of Jumpdrive into shape, so it can get upstreamed. It's a super useful little recovery utility to have in your tool belt :) github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/

Just tagged phoc 0.6.0 - notable changes: filters out touch events on disabled touchscreens (thanks to @craftyguy), improves handling of tiled windows, includes plenty of bugfixes for mouse pointer support and tries a bit harder to fit windows onto the screen (which may help some Flatpak apps). Grab it for your distro while it's fresh! @purism source.puri.sm/Librem5/phoc/-/

With phoc being a phone compositor and touchscreen being a primary input device, mouse pointer handling has been a bit neglected - but it's going to change soon! Fixing some pointer-related bugs and adding quality of life improvements in :) @purism

Ok, maybe it's not that impressive for a regular person in 2020, but right now I'm playing Neverball in VR mode using cardboard headset with fully FLOSS GL driver (etnaviv) on a GNU/Linux phone (Librem 5) and it's damn amazing! :D @purism

Librem 5 phone + Steam Controller + TV + Polish Radio Experimental Studio + couch

One of the things I've been personally looking for on the was USSD support in Calls. No need to wait anymore, as it was recently implemented by Mohammed Sadiq just in time for the Evergreen release :) @purism

SuperTuxKart played on a Librem 5 phone using an external keyboard and a 1080p TV. So this is this "mobile gaming" they keep talking about, huh? :D
@purism

Just made my first mobile payment with my bank app straight from the Librem 5 - via Anbox. The last reason to occasionally boot an Android phone just went poof! :)
