🚨 Foreigners crossing certain Chinese borders are being forced to install malware on their Android phones.

"The malware downloads a tourist’s text messages, calendar entries, and phone logs, as well as scans the device for over 70,000 different files." vice.com/en_us/article/7xgame/

This just in: I will not be changing the name of my channel. 😆

If YouTube has taught me one thing: it's that this number is meaningless. Still, I'm grateful to all 45k of you who have SMASHED that Subscribe button! <3

@crutchmaster @hikariknight yeah I love this platform. Biggest selling point... No clickbait articles about my favorite 80's TV show and what they look like now sprawling 50 webpages full of ads.

I just finished listening to Black Midi's debut album Schlagenheim and holy cow... This album's almost insane. My album of the year so far. While it's not doing something completely new, I think it'll become a favorite. Black Midi's an experimental, improvisational math and noise Rock band from London. It's juvenile and borderline annoying yet extraordinarily rewarding, decently produced, excellently improvised, and meticulously composed. Definitely buying it. youtu.be/86NGJmUfRlM

@christitus @mattmcnutt Many Americans find the term comical to start, but seem to get over it quickly. Eugen has discussed it ad nauseam in the past, and has even volunteered to change it if people felt it was a barrier to adoption. The general consensus of Mastodon users seems to be that it's not a big deal.

When @Hbomberguy asked me to change the "publish" button to "toot" I wasn't aware that some regions (USA?) use that as slang for farts rather than the noise that elephants and trumpets make.

And it's pretty damn annoying to hear that take/joke over and over and over and over again. Realistically, "tweet" is just as much nonsense. Birds don't tweet, they chirp, that's not a common word. But it's already ingrained in people's minds so to them tweet is serious and toot is not.
