@gbryant yeah even on platforms like youtube (or especially so?) Most people either don't use their accounts anymore, or forgot about their subscription becaus they didn't click that bell and are only aware of their subscriptions when they incidentally scroll the "subsscriptions" view.
One of the reasons why the fediverse makes so much sense, just get notified of other platforms updates :D
