.@torproject protects people facing real threats to their liberty, autonomy, and lives. All privacy-by-design technologies can be used by criminals. Arguments against Tor that merely highlight criminal activity have been levied against the Internet in general, esp. by the worst dictators.

Today we've updated the Librem One website with two important documents:

A short guide to staying safe online no matter what online service you are using. Like our policy document we've kept it short and to the point, with links to more detailed, independent resources if you'd like to learn more.

As well as a code of conduct that makes it clear we will respond to reports of harassment, for example on Librem Social, our opt-in social network.

Uncle Ben said that with great power comes great responsibility, but he didn't explain that responsibility lags behind power a bit. There's a brief period where you can enjoy the rush of great power before the weight of great responsibility hits.

For those of you using Librem Chat on Android, the latest version (0.1.4) removes any code traces from trackers left behind in the upstream Riot codebase (we had disabled them before but the code itself was still there).

As an open source community, we should all build one another up instead of tearing each other down. Differences aside, we all have the same common goal. Don't you agree @lunduke @gbryant

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea behind LibremOne from @purism. We, the decentralized internet advocates, are quite far with the tech. What we desperately need is a touch of marketing, bundling, and consumer-friendliness. #LibremOne is doing exactly that. Bravo, and I hope them the very best of success.

"Most people want to opt-in to what they want to follow, be that a news feed, a celebrity, a friend, or family. Most people do not want to be force-fed a constant stream of manipulated content to catch and keep their attention."
