"For example, most people would be horrified by a proposal that all the paper envelopes and cardboard packages we send, should be opened and inspected against records of ownership, in order to prevent the distribution through the mail of copied products, like books or music.
But digitally superstitious people see nothing to worry about, when it comes to proposals to do pretty much exactly that, as long as we’re talking about digital packages."
Today is the first day of #NaNoWriMo, the National Novel #Writing Month. For those participating, the goal is to write 50,000 words in the month of August.
This is my 4th attempt at NaNoWriMo. I have succeeded at 50,000 words once. I hope to again this year, and this year to finish my book and publish it. It will be interesting to see where it goes.
Every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take they'll be watching you.

Recent deals involving the media conglomerate AT&T, the streaming device seller Roku, the advertising giant Publicis and other companies have expanded the surveillance infrastructure that operates in the background of streaming services. While viewers focus on the action onscreen, tracking technology quietly sops up information about their habits and uses it to target them with more relevant, traceable ads. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/25/business/media/streaming-data-collection-privacy.html #privacy #security
