Software supply chain security is a critical conversation for the community. I spoke with Marcela Melara and Bruno Domingues on the Open at Intel podcast about just that!

If you’re at
@socallinuxexpo #scale20x this week, and see my #BigNerdHead, please take a picture and post it with that hashtag!

I’m not there in person this year, but I have awesome friends who “brought me along.” (Thanks
@katherined ,
@Wildbill , &
@kyle !!!)

I just saw this political ad where Joe Biden says we need to hold social media companies accountable for collecting personal data on our kids. I agree, but why does it have to be “kids” and not end at “personal data” as if it’s somehow no longer a problem when you turn 18?

Today's release of the National Cybersecurity Strategy is a great reminder of the importance of learning about things like . I just happen to have a recommendation for that!

"The Cybersecurity Strategy proposes to raise the bar on cybersecurity. It aims to transition critical infrastructure operators and the public sector to modern compute environments that will truly enable a zero-trust approach."

I was on FLOSS Weekly yesterday, and had a great time talking with @dsearls and @shawnp0wers.

Check it out to hear me talk about the chip supply chain crisis in toilet paper terms, my history with and vision for convergence, and culture clashes in the FLOSS community.

You are here, Texas. One of your GOP state legislators has introduced a bill requiring internet companies to censor information related to abortion.

Due to all of the news around our Lapdock Kit, I was recently reminded of this Linux Journal article I wrote almost ten years ago (wow...) about my desire for what we now call convergence--using your phone as your main general-purpose personal computer.

Back then the best I could find was docking a Droid 4 on an Atrix lapdock, and running local Linux apps in a chroot over VNC.

How far we've come!

@jzb @socallinuxexpo I’ll probably do 2ish+ because IAH in Houston is generally awful and it’s mid-day.

I understand why we keep citing the XKCD comic of one person holding up all modern infrastructure, but it also perpetuates the still-prevalent idea that is the stuff of hobbyists. “Even now, I run into those who think Linux and open source software is made by people living in their parents' basement and writing the code out of the goodness of their hearts. Wrong. So, so wrong.” theregister.com/2023/02/24/who Thanks @pixelgeek for the link.

I'm thinking about my upcoming travel to @socallinuxexpo In a couple weeks (yay!), and I'm realizing I don't even remember how airports work. How long before our flights are we arriving these days? I assume it has gotten worse since covid, yes? I used to travel a ton. This feels so weird.

"Europe’s Cyber Resilience Act was developed with the best of intentions. ... However, the #CRA legislation (along with the companion revisions to the Product Liability Directive) in its current form will have enormous negative effects on both the #OpenSource community and the European economy."
