If you are working with software, you should understand SBOMs (Software Bill of Materials). Hear from two leaders in the space on the Open At Intel podcast. @iamintel and Kate Stewart joined me for the latest episode, All About SBOMs.
@deirdres @brendangregg I’m glad you are taking time for yourself!
@pixelgeek Outlander, a new sushi restaurant from my favorite chef, also Indiana Jones, I didn’t know about the Exploding Kittens series, so… 🤩, and Dimples.
@hehemrin I’m sure it’s to save on the sms expenses.
@sirber @pixelgeek I think sms 2fa is better than none. Yes, an app is better.
@sirber @pixelgeek auth apps and physical keys are still supported, but a text-message is still easier for a lot of people, especially less nerdy users. My concern is that anything that makes mfa less convenient is a bad thing. I think many may just turn it off.
@fannoun *mfa. Autocorrect… *sigh*
@fannoun generally speaking, but some MDA is better than none and I fear a lot of people will just turn it off instead of installing an authentication app. Text message auth is easier for a lot of people.
@Kingstrum I was trying with the ivory app. The mastodon app crashes and ivory gives an error message.
Last week, my colleague Kevin was ready to give up Google in favor of the new AI-powered Bing. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/08/technology/microsoft-bing-openai-artificial-intelligence.html This week, he writes about a chat with Bing's AI leaving him deeply unsettled after it told him about the many terrible things it's "shadow self" wanted to do and confessed its love repeatedly for him. The cycle from enchantment to terror with new technologies is really accelerating! https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/16/technology/bing-chatbot-microsoft-chatgpt.html The convo transcript is worth a read. @pixelgeek I strongly identify with this cat today.
@terminalmage @shawnp0wers and small other things.
@Wildbill @jzb YESSS Now, if we could just get @shawnp0wers a sponsorship deal... ;)
@jzb Cool! I'll see you there! And I second the booking experience. I completely forgot how to travel. I'm still debating rental car vs. ride share from the airport. LA is so complicated. 😂
Tune in to our new episode! @katherined, @dsearls and @petros talk to @dmarti about Permission Slip, the new data privacy app from Consumer Reports.
