Why don't we have standard Terms of Service that are used and reused everywhere?
I'm imagining a small number of flavors of ToS, not owned by the service providers that have us click through, but owned by trusted nonprofits and public service agencies and reused by service providers.

I'm thinking of Creative Commons-like agreements, but business agreements about providing a service, not just about licensing creative works.

Then, have the company that's implementing it customize the ToS by filling in a few fields at the start: their corporate name and address, how to contact their ombudsman, list of officers, something like that.

Interesting, the terms of use that shows you before a test is different from the one on their website. The website one is last updated on January 2022, and the one that LockDown Browser shows you is March 2024. Notably the latest one has an section and the older one doesn't.

Second time trying to set up a Matrix chat server, and geez what a bad experience. The job isn't done until documentation is written.... Maybe I somehow missed their server documentation? I couldn't find any documentation for setting up a server, on matrix.org/. Maybe they don't have an implementation. I thought they made Synapse.

What if all this plugging in and unplugging from people has worn off the gold plating?
I don't think we were designed to enter and leave communities and homes as often as we do.

I think we weren't made to travel around so often, and that "small towns" were the original idea

Just a heads-up: is a company that claims to acquire and manage multiple publishing and internet-based businesses, including journalistic websites like , , and .

c = dπ

Took me a while to realize this.

If Jesus forgives me, then I have no business not forgiving myself.

Sometimes taking a picture of people having a good time "captures the moment", in the sense that it gets taken into the photo and you don't get it back....

OK that's rather melancholic. Pics are often nice.

A roundup of news coverage featuring the upcoming entry of #Ghost and #Buttondown to the #Fediverse:

@quillmatiq:
Ghost choosing to not go the walled-garden route is now tapping into what will be the largest sharing network available on the internet.

@reckless1280:
At this point I’m not sure any social platform that launches without an eye towards federation stands a chance, really.

@Gargron:
This is what momentum looks like.

Something nice about being around other people is that you can see what features of yourself are common and which are unique.

On the bright side, at least is *dependably* bad.

I just don't get it. How can they be so incompetent? This isn't a one-off issue, either.

PSA: HEADS UP EVERYONE! Another project noticed they were being targeted with similar social engineering tactics as the xz-utils backdoor attack. Be on the lookout for random people demanding that you add someone new as a maintainer for vague but urgent "reasons". Google their emails, check their GitHub/GitLab histories, see if they are on Mastodon/Reddit/"X"/LinkedIn. If they do not have an internet footprint, they are probably a plant.

Reading Leviticus is a reminder that God has always taken sin seriously. Its effects are costly and so is the punishment.

But God wants a relationship with His people so in the Old Testament we can see He provided a way for them to atone for their sins.

Even better, He provided Jesus as a permanent sacrifice for sins, bringing forgiveness and reconciliation that is received by grace through faith in Him.

These direct solicitations to T-Mobile employees to participate in SIM-swaps are definitely not just limited to T-Mobile's employees. But T-Mob is probably the easiest still.
