Has anybody tried to assemble and run Genode OS on an Arm64 based mobile phone yet?

Seems that it has all the hallmarks of open source OS with microkernel and policy framework that should make this a faster and more secure os than Unix based Linux. Thoughts?

@joao totally agree its a continous progress i would say 200-300% uptime improvement so far and i am sure there is still runway remaining. Almost seems it shouldnt be the highest priority anymore and just a top 10 focus area. Next top focus area i mind is resolving app slow search results (e.g. searching contacts typing letter B results in almost an app freeze, happens on desktop too so not Librem 5 specific more a Dev Kit issue?

@joao nice!! i noticed the last 5% battery arent accurate regardless of standby/suspend setting causing too many notifications to occur, the battery profile needs to be reconfigured to account for possibly higher discharge rates when charge drops below 30%, which isnt linear regardless of app use.

Looking forward for production ready suspend though! Your estimate makes sense i believe.

I mean i sortof disagree. A square cat would move in a square box in a determinant fashion along two axis. So mathematically it would be easier to predict the cats location, speed

@kop316 @bragefuglseth "Antispam" is good but to broad since it implies possibly blocking email spam, or matrix spam, or SMS/MMS spam blocking, unless it will include more functions later on? In the meantime maybe "DoNotCall"!

mobile-settings 0.27.0

Now allows to set the ringtone for calls and sms?!?!

This is quite cool! I guess a lot of distros will have to update their wiki's and settings on "how to change the ringtone"

@CoderThomasB @devrtz @purism

@jlcrawf @kyle sorry but have to ditto that, as the President you set the right tone and direction of the company, good job :)

@tbernard doesnt yet quite scale right on 720x1440 screen with articles especially inages and menues off to the right where they should be left aligned

@DaveRussell kinda a silly question but yes, how did nobody on his court report this to an ethics comittee?

@48kRAM the internet has become a mess, especially with the cloud or CDN providers pushing their security, its mostly to block DOS attacks but most users aren't bots so who are they serving?

@pavot hey sam is there a setting to get the firefox nav bar and tabs to show up at the bottom instead of the top?

@mntmn an awesome sight! Where are you showing the thick paper manuals though that come with it?

Tested Volla Phone with Volla OS Android 11:
not so good
1. springboard has potential but does not accept launch commands (e.g. typing Settings wont open settings)
2. apps cant easily be accessed and are hidden by +# apps button
3. Manually added APN settings are overwritten automatically
4. open vpn file import not supported
5. navigation in springboard is confusing
6. android has too many settings
7. springboard no way to delete bookmarks
8. springboard no right swipe usage

Tested Volla Phone with Volla OS Android 11 Part 2:
things that work well
1. backup and using SDcard to store backup and app info
2. smooth naviagation and easy setup
3. general settings that are privacy forward such as using Duckduckgo as default search
4. Wifi mac address default randomization
5. using Aurora store with anonymous login to access google apps
6. Having fdroid preinstalled
7. general camera, system, browser performance and battery runtime is great

@carlrichell agreed there is something inherent in having accounts requiring login and violating privacy by default of having logins
