Autofocus support can't get soon enough - turns out that trying to take a focused macro shot with manual focus controlled by typing values into the terminal is kinda cumbersome 😂
...but spring is here, as seen by the #Librem5 camera!
Still learning how this mastodon/fediverse thing works.
Now I just found out that there is something called "direct messages" and there was a question about such messages maybe being silently discarded by the instance that I'm on. That would mean, I think, that I would never know about any direct message that someone tried to send me.
If anyone would like to help me test that, please send me such a "direct message" and afterwards also reply to this in the normal way.
Regarding #RMS and the letter to remove him from all leadership positions, this makes several important points: https://www.arp242.net/rms.html
Bottom line, that I agree with: "being unfair is being unfair, no matter who the target may be".
Anyone here who signed that letter who would consider explaining their thinking? Looking for someone who both read it and signed it, knowing what you were signing and who is still standing by the claims in the letter. Anyone?
Are you using @postmarketOS on your #librem5?
Reminder to #LinuxPhone users: Be kind!
We don't want to bum or even burn out the people that do the hard development work, right?

For the people angry at this; I've noticed that in general it takes somewhat of an abrasive personality to kickstart important, big things. As in the more 'regular-behaving' people who may join later because they believe in the idea and probably even conceived of it themselves, simply lack the 'no fs given' mental attitude one needs to adopt in the face of extreme animosity from the forces opposed to the idea, who are usually much better resourced.
Thanks to @agx who suggested sending it upstream and also added to the explanation in the commit message.

Can I call myself a "contributor" now even though technically I didn't add anything, just removed one line? 😃
External #Bluetooth speaker works flawlessly with #Mobian on #Pinephone. One can use #music #streaming services like #Bandcamp which respect your #freedom and don't use #DRM against you.
Time to abandon the #smartphone walled gardens of #Android and #iOS and switch to a #Linuxphone
#Minetest 5.4.0 has been released! https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26322
Receiving MMS on the #librem5 is working now, using #ModemManager and mmsd and #chatty, after some recent fixes including an addition to libqmi to allow sending ack for "transfer route MT" messages, see https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/chatty/-/issues/30 and https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/issues/257 #phosh #UserFreedom #mobile #gnu #linux #freesoftware @purism #gnomeonmobile
#phosh 0.8.1 is out 🚀 : https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/phosh/-/releases/v0.8.1
Mostly bug fixes and cleanups this time around from @eliasr , @dos and yours truly.
John Rawls' "Veil of Ignorance" is still one of the most intriguing though experiments to me:
"Suppose that you and a group of people had to decide on the principles that would establish a new society.
However, none of you know anything about who you will be in that society. Elements such as your race, income level, sex, gender, religion, and personal preferences are all unknown to you.
After you decide on those principles, you will then be turned out into the society you established."
Using #gimp on the #librem5 works better now thanks to the new display scaling feature in #phosh 0.8.0 #UserFreedom #mobile #gnu #linux #freesoftware @purism @agx #gnomeonmobile

The #librem5 wishing the #pinephone a merry Christmas and a happy GNU year, by SMS from the command-line. 😃 PureOS and @postmarketOS both running #phosh. The script on the Librem 5 is using mmcli commands to send SMS messages. #UserFreedom #mobile #gnu #linux #freesoftware @purism #gnomeonmobile
