Johan Linåker: "Report: Public Sector Open Source Program Offices - Archetypes for how to Grow (Common) Institutional Capabilities": linaker.se/blog/public-sector-

"One of the main challenges is the limited knowledge within the public sector in terms of both what open source is, but also how it can be leveraged [...]"
We need to change that!

@KeithDJohnson this reminds me of something Brother Mouzone said in The Wire. Paraphrasing a bit here:

"What's the most dangerous thing in America? A citizen with a library card"

@Taler

I'm with @eliasr on this one. You don't have to run your own instance, but for a #GNU project, it just doesn't make sense to go #GAFAM over #Peertube.

@Taler this sounds very interesting, but is youtube (google) really an appropriate place to publish that?

IMO, for anything related to you should avoid google. Involving google hurts your credibility.

I would like to watch that recording but not at the price of going to a google site and accepting their terms and whatever. I don't like google, I don't want google's tracking.

Can your recording be found somewhere else, or is youtube (google) the only place?

Maybe use ?

@petergleick does the system allow for any way for the Supreme Court to go back and correct a mistake they made?

@hehemrin mycket bra film.

We've updated switching.software again!

For instance, we updated the description of @cryptpad, an easy to use yet powerful end-to-end encrypted replacement for #MS356, #GoogleDocs and unencrypted pads.

The new Swiss Open Source Law: "Public Money Public Code" by default
Matthias Stürmer, Rika Koch

Recording available here: media.fsfe.org/w/aQs7EbEUQGt4D - starting at about 2:31 in that video.

This is very good news: Switzerland has a new law that takes effect starting this year, saying that the Swiss public sector at national level shall publish source code for the software it develops or pays others to develop.

#phosh 0.40 will correctly detect the #steamdeck's panel orientation and start up in landscape mode now! 🎉

Here's a photo of it running on #postmarketOS!

There are still a few rough edges with running pmOS, phosh, and the other UIs we support, on the Steam Deck... but it's still really nice to see one rough edge smoothed out.

pmOS on the Steam Deck, just like the blueberries in the photo, is not quite ready for consumption... 🤞 😄

Thank you @agx for your help and patience!

@iron_bug

> only users of proprietary crap do like this.
> this sounds total madness

Total madness, yes, but unfortunately also the behavior of a majority of people. So I think it is a plausible explanation for how the malware could have gotten installed on many (not all) users' machines.

@cnx

@cnx @iron_bug another possibility is that the ISP already had some proprietary software installed on users' computers, like their own proprietary VPN client or "antivirus" program or "broadband helper program" or whatever that is supposed to "improve user experience" etc. Then they can later sneak in whatever other malware they want via automatic updates of that program.
