Me: Is a photo taken with a phone a representation of what its camera saw or what its software believed to be there? 😼

I've been away from my art projects for some time, due to capitalism...But I've been working on this cute travel journal.
I tried my best to make it well thought-out and pretty with my hand-made art and paper cu-outs. It should make planning trips easy, and it's filled with fun prompts for creative writing, drawing, or contemplating ❤️
If you want it, go here:

Should be available in other countries soon.
Thank you 🔥
@mistersixt @janvlug Crimson isn't even ready for developers yet, let alone users. There are many regressions over byzantium, many broken dependencies and many non-installable packages there. It was just barely cleaned up enough for images to build last week, and plenty of work is still needed to put it into shape. You can run it if you want, sure, but expect problems and don't expect any support.
@eccentricShaft @kop316 Just to fight the disingenuous: I can fully subscribe to what Chris said there and can add games, giving talks using the phones usb-c output for DP, playing music not only with headphones but also car audio systems via BT (including song information in the cars dash), …
I wouldn't say we have still work to do but who hasn't? This might still be a niche compared to proprietary mobile OSes but there's plenty of people using phones like the #librem5 as daily drivers.
@kop316 @marcellinusme Also an important point to some of us: AOSP is open-source, but its development is quite locked down, and only serves Google's interests... Working on a Linux-based distro gives developers more leverage to contribute and shape the ecosystem in a way that benefits the community, rather than one single company
This week marks 18 months since I have been using a #librem5 as a daily driver. The first few months were probably the roughest, but I have not needed to use Android at all in those 18 months.
Today, I actually find it quite useable! It just works as a phone, and I can do everything I used to do on my Android Phone on it.
We expect to hit shipping parity for the Librem 5 in early July! I'm laughing at memes about billionaires who can't pull themselves up to the surface by their own bootstraps, but in reality I'm furious.
I'm furious I was accused of human smuggling by FRONTEX (European border agency) for being part of a sea rescue operation that saved 1000+ lives of refugees fleeing war & terrorism.
I'm furious at the money and international effort being spent to rescue these billionaires when operations like ours cost so little and save so many lives, but are punished.
Apparently Flappy Bird is 10 years old this year. It reminded me of my crappy ncurses remake I did back in 2014. Now it reacts to mouse input and does haptic feedback when played on a phone 😂 https://gitlab.com/dosowisko.net/flasciibird #flappybird #mobile #games #librem5 #shotonlibrem5
Mobile #Linux at #DevConf_CZ. I've added my OnePlus 6 to the collection. Thank you, @jmlich, for running the booth.
First week with my #Librem5 as my only phone. What happened so far:
- Synchronized contacts and calendar (Nextcloud)
- Added appointment to calendar and new contacts
- Made phone calls (nornal, loudspeaker)
- Wrote, received SMS
- Used Matrix
- Browesd the web
- Listen to music (Aux, Bluetooth, loudspeeker)
- Made a WiFi Hotspot
- Wrote a Python script to plot a complicated function
- Read News
- Took pictures
- Checked my location on the map
- Wrote this post
- Played games
- Probably more
Haven't seen anyone posting this yet, so I figured I'll share it: during our recent #Gnome #mobileLinux hackfest we got the experimental #libcamera pipeline handler for the #purism #Librem5 to work and make a video call with @dino. There were still some serious issues we didn't have time to debug any more - but hey, it's something :) (featuring @cas )
Yesterday, my friend's son turned four. They had his party at the lake. Since there wasn't really an address to share, my friend sent me the GPS coordinates.
I plugged them into Puremaps and it led me straight there while I was also listening to a podcast.
#mobilelinux and the #librem5 have come a long way.
Short overview about my feelings towards the #Librem5 after using it for 2 days as my only device.
What impresses me the most:
- Phone calls overall are flawless
- It feels quite snappy and responsive
- Not one single reboot or crash so far
What currently confuses me the most:
- Chatty doesn't load images in the matrix chat
- Instead of some room names, Chatty shows the room IDs
- All other matrix chat apps are also not working well.
I wasn't expecting matrix to be my biggest problem.
Google made it official that important apps like Messaging and Dialer are no longer maintained in the Android Open Source project. A free Android on its own is pretty much useless now.
