First, the high scores. Only @Reddit earned stars in every category, and @apple and @GitHub earned stars in five out of six categories.

If they can achieve this level of transparency and accountability, it’s reasonable to expect other companies to also meet that standard. t.co/k22w1kAV0c

@lunduke having more PureOS news on DistroWatch could easily push it in the Top100, and from there, who's going to stop it? ;)

Big shout-out to @lunduke for answering this and giving it a community boost for seeing feedback on the idea and giving me more details to consider. youtu.be/fpBakoNt7z4

I was so excited to see it answered!

P.s. Not from Cleveland, but Oklahoma City 😄

Looking into OpenCollective… first impressions:

Pros:

* I like the model
* Open source (nice)
* No trackers on site/source (nice); trackers in docs because they’re using Gitbook but that’s not the end of the world

Cons:

* Paypal seems to be required for fiscal hosts; based on past experience don’t want to give them access to my bank account.
* I’m worried about the angel investment; they seem to be going down the VC road – so what’s the exit?
* This is worrisome: docs.opencollective.com/help/i

Since 2002 dozens – maybe even hundreds – of people have devoted years of their life to making Blender open and free to use for everyone. This massive effort has made it a strong and exciting program where add-ons can become massively successful. You’re standing on the shoulders of giants!

This can only work if we create a level playing field for everyone. Nobody’s code is more important than another’s. Nobody cuts a corner of the Blender play field to claim it as their territory. Nobody will plant trees here where you can’t climb in or enjoy its fruits.

Blender is free, forever. code.blender.org/2019/06/blend…

Some users report that they are receiving phishing emails from other Tutanota accounts. We've implemented a very obvious design distinction so that you always know what's fake. 😃👇

My environmentalism: wearing the same t-shirt two days in a row.

Seriously!

Washing my clothes half as often, literally means using half the water and half the soap and half the electricity. And the clothes last longer, too. And the washer.

The limiting factor here is keeping my lovely man-smell in check... and social pressure. I've actually had people judge me for this! People can get aggressively dogmatic about the most insignificant things.

Companies usually work for the people that fund them in the first place. That is not an issue and it is something natural. The real issue is who fund the company?

Purism has been funded by the people.

Polarisation is toxic.

Every time we force people to pick a side... they may not pick ours. Do it over and over and over again? The expected result is to push everyone away.

Making the world better needs to be an inclusive, forgiving project.

In my opinion, obviously.

By the way, I know all of this because I've been handing out custom per-use email addresses for years. Makes it easy to find when someone sells you out.
