drebrez got a 5.1.0 kernel (with minor patching) running on the Galaxy Nexus - and he started with nothing but forced reboots and kernel panics, then worked his way up to the display and earphone audio!

It's time to grab your favorite drink and celebrate this tale and a lot more with us in the two years of postmarketOS blog post:

@feynman@fosstodon.org @kev Another favourite response I've heard about is when people say they 'have nothing to hide' is to ask them to hand over their phone unlocked and pull down their pants.

I'm not sure how often people are fine with that, but if they're not then it'd be best to assume that they've got something to hide and that they're up to no good.

:)

@feynman@fosstodon.org @kev Thomas Drake (NSA-whistleblower) in the 'Nothing To Hide' Documentary:

"If you say you have nothing to fear because you have nothing to hide, so be happy, not worry. I say, okay fine. Turn over the keys to your car, your house, all of your passwords, all of your accounts, medical records. Everything. And I'll put them into a special secure lockbox, but I'm gonna keep it - *I* will keep it for safe keeping... "

"Noone was willing to turn over any of that information to me."

@feynman@fosstodon.org @kev
I've heard 'If you haven't done anything wrong then you've got nothing to hide' a bit too often.

I'd like to collect together a handful of different responses to suit different occasions so that they don't get over repeated and risk losing their effectiveness.

I like to agree: "Yes, and the police should have a spare key to your house and be able to wander in and poke about whenever they feel like it, because if you haven't done anything wrong then you've got nothing to hide."

Yes, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is likely spying on your web browsing, and yes, DuckDuckGo can help you significantly cut down on their ability to spy on you.

@agx @purism are there plans to make that Quake II demo available (repository / PureOS store)?

I think it would be a very cool way to show off the capabilities of the device to friends.
Who doesn't like a nice 3D demo? 😍
A more family friendly alternative also wouldn't hurt 😉

The last funding goal of @Framasoft 's project for an ActivityPub-enabled event coordination software is nearly reached!

It needs less than 200€ a day in the 16 days to go until the end of the campaign to be fully funded.

Worried about the sustainability of the solution? Framasoft already funded (and developed) #PeerTube, which was released in v1.0 in October 2018. The last release was one week ago, and they're still working on it.

@Matter @uwehermann @hannibalwhite13@fosstodon.org I still trust it more than I'd trust Whatsapp, Telegram etc. but that's pretty disappointing to hear :(

@uwehermann @Matter @hannibalwhite13@fosstodon.org Does anyone know, offhand, the reasoning behind this? i.e. Does Google require it of them for a Playstore App?

The @postmarketOS folks are making massive strides in their work, not just for the #Pinephone but also dozens of other devices new and old. 😄 postmarketos.org/blog/2019/06/

@danielst @switchingsocial@mastodon.at @staltz Thanks for the mention DanielTux! :)
As I attempted to explain in my 'toots' - the Soltices and Equinoxes are fairly arbitrary days that just happen to come with free advertising, so if we can somehow tie in those days to a campaign for people to show some appreciation for the many worthy FLOSS projects they use, then that should help encourage the folks that mean to get round to it but might not, (like myself usually) with a gentle nudge/reminder.

@canteen @switchingsocial@mastodon.at @staltz Hi @canteen - partly why I thought the 'Solstinox' (quarterly) appreciation/donation campaign would be good was that you could donate a small amount to 2 or 3 different projects every 3 months - the Solstices/Equinoxes used as an easy nudge/reminder - and hopefully most of the projects you regularly use and enjoy will get a little cash boost throughout the year. Still a tricky choice but I started with 3 projects I use every day on every machine :)
