My 3D printer has been busy making things small enough to fit in my son's advent calendar. For starters I went with tiny articulated snakes.

@yaelwrites @sbourne I keep meaning to pitch when I see CfP and then it slips my mind! I have enjoyed it when I was there.

@yaelwrites @sbourne I've felt that way in the past too. These days I just try my best to accept generosity when it comes my way, and use it as motivation/inspiration to up my own generosity game.

@roland @purism Our UTM codes are only so we know which *platform* incoming traffic comes from (like referral links in web server logs). If you inspect them you can see there are no random strings or attempts to identify/track individuals.

@Texou @purism I agree that accessibility still needs a lot of work on free software, especially on mobile. It is something we think is important and want to continue to improve as we can!

@Wildbill @socallinuxexpo I guess it will depend on what talk (if any) they accept! Maybe after last year they are (rightly) concerned about explosions.

@kyle @socallinuxexpo What is the plan to ensure folks are paying attention in your talk for 2023? Gotta surpass this...

Whew, just under the radar but I managed to submit my @socallinuxexpo talks. If you are procrastinating like I did, you only have until TOMORROW to get your talks in!

I've been trying to re-enable power management for the modem on the #librem5 running #postmarketOS, but was plagued by issues with the modem resetting immediately every time is suspended/resumed.

Once again, the product of hours of git bisecting and testing is a patch that's less than 1 word 😅

My partner surprised me with an advent calendar and I can't stop laughing 😂

@yaelwrites Some folks have difficulty figuring out how to accept generosity. I imagine it is more that than a flaw in your generosity.

@matthew_d_green It starts out being true because the upstart has to be competitive with alternatives. Once they get market dominance they can use network effects and lock in to maintain it, so less urgency to improve the product/service. This is when you start to see new features/UI revamps that no one asked for and everyone dislikes.

With decentralized systems and open protocols ppl can easily switch to competition and do. With free software they can even undo/fork anti-features.

In the 13th century a 7 year old schoolboy named Onfim doodled on his birch bark. He drew himself as a warrior & as “a wild beast” and scribbled a greeting to his friend Daniel.

These are his drawings, unearthed by archaeologists near Novgorod, Russia #history

The final tote fabric is done! This makes four different totes I was able to make from the same warp. This fabric I'm going to set aside and make into a tote some time after I'm done with the rest of my holiday projects. I'm definitely ready to start on something else. Next up: twill patterned scarf.

@royal So many tips!
* How to Brew by Palmer has all the base foundational info you need
* Get a basic brewing starter kit w/ bucket from brewing store
* If you like cider, it is even easier to learn fermentation process, basically juice + sugar + yeast + time
* Start with a pre-measured, pre-made extract kit. They are high quality these days and provide step-by-step instructions and are easy to make
* Focus on sanitization 1st, then fermentation temp control. Critical for good beer.

Update: this porter is carbonated and delicious. Why am I paying $11/six-pack (on sale!) for average craft beer?
