@goatwildernesscollective The Genode OS folks made a presentation of Genode OS running on a pinephone at the last FOSDEM.

@martijndevrieze Also I did not exactly hid that fact when I made the post.
But hey, today I still have 37% battery with 8h32 min uptime, and mobile data on.
Since I was most of the day so far in the street, I did not had wifi on.
Also disabling the wifi on the librem 5 is just flipping a switch on the side of the phone.
@martijndevrieze I measured the phone in the conditions in which I needed to use it on that day. I did not needed wifi nor mobile data on that day. Only needed to make half a dozen phone calls. Most of my Internet usage during the week is on a laptop.
I usually do not like to use GPS, if there is a place I do not know how to get, I look up on a map at home, before going or I just ask folks on the street. wifi not being on, if I am on the street most of the day, I do not need wifi card on.
@goatwildernesscollective What amazes me the most in that screenshot and the "almost 13h" part is that I remember the battery life in earlier batches without the several optimizations to battery life done by the #librem5 team over the years.
The work done to improve battery life on the #librem5 even without suspend is really amazing.
on the bikes again we headed to
Tróia, took the ferry to Setúbal and from Almada a ferry to #Lisbon.
when we arrived in the bustling city of Lisbon we realized that its not fun to cycle here. the busy and ruthless traffic on the steep roads was way too crazy for us! so we decided to leave the city at night and cycled until we found a campspot at 2 o'clock in the morning 😅
route:
Aljezur -> Odemira -> Vila Nova de Santo André -> Tróia -> Setúbal -> Almada -> Lisbon
#librem5 _almost_ 13 hours uptime without suspend enabled. Wifi and mobile data off. When suspend is ready to be a default, which is almost, it will only get better.
@lispi314 thats "web 2.0" in general
new from me: More than half of Twitter Blue's earliest subscribers are no longer subscribed to the service
that is, over 54% of the 150,000 users who first subscribed when Twitter Blue launched in November are no longer subscribing
https://mashable.com/article/half-of-twitter-blue-earliest-subscribers-no-longer-subscribed
@randulo I want networks like Twitter to end. But I do not want the microblog part of Fediverse to be a Twitter 3.0 imitation.
Here's the problem.
Recent growth on mastodon.social is greater than the growth rate of November 2022.
But growth on other servers, like mstdn.social, has flatlined.
This has been confirmed to me by numerous Mastodon server admins.
Very concerning!
#phosh mobile-settings 0.27.0
Now allows to set the ringtone for calls and sms?!?!
This is quite cool! I guess a lot of distros will have to update their wiki's and settings on "how to change the ringtone"
phosh 0.27.0 is out 🚀📱:
This one has a new menu on power button long press, initial emergency calls support (thanks @CoderThomasB, @devrtz), improvements on the compositor side, new completers in phosh-osk-stub, configurable ring tones and more.
Check out the full release notes at https://phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.27.0/

#Windows95 was the pinnacle of #UI #design!
- or at least this is how flame wars start.
I decided to take a closer look at the reasons for that statement myself.
And now I think there's more to that: enough to write a series of blog post about #UX that we lost, or indeed never had.
The first post takes a look at platform (in)consistency and the tension between #users and #developers .
