_almost_ 13 hours uptime without suspend enabled. Wifi and mobile data off. When suspend is ready to be a default, which is almost, it will only get better.

@joao nice!! i noticed the last 5% battery arent accurate regardless of standby/suspend setting causing too many notifications to occur, the battery profile needs to be reconfigured to account for possibly higher discharge rates when charge drops below 30%, which isnt linear regardless of app use.

Looking forward for production ready suspend though! Your estimate makes sense i believe.

@goatwildernesscollective What amazes me the most in that screenshot and the "almost 13h" part is that I remember the battery life in earlier batches without the several optimizations to battery life done by the team over the years.
The work done to improve battery life on the even without suspend is really amazing.

@joao totally agree its a continous progress i would say 200-300% uptime improvement so far and i am sure there is still runway remaining. Almost seems it shouldnt be the highest priority anymore and just a top 10 focus area. Next top focus area i mind is resolving app slow search results (e.g. searching contacts typing letter B results in almost an app freeze, happens on desktop too so not Librem 5 specific more a Dev Kit issue?

@joao That's nice, but why on earth do you need a PHONE with wifi and mobile off? You measured the uptime of a non-product like this.
I like the idea behind the phone, but the lack of delivery by Librem made me switch the order to a PC instead. The linux phone OS is simply not there yet unforuntately. I truly hope it comes, but am betting on Pine64 rather than Purism.

@martijndevrieze I measured the phone in the conditions in which I needed to use it on that day. I did not needed wifi nor mobile data on that day. Only needed to make half a dozen phone calls. Most of my Internet usage during the week is on a laptop.
I usually do not like to use GPS, if there is a place I do not know how to get, I look up on a map at home, before going or I just ask folks on the street. wifi not being on, if I am on the street most of the day, I do not need wifi card on.

@martijndevrieze Also I did not exactly hid that fact when I made the post.

But hey, today I still have 37% battery with 8h32 min uptime, and mobile data on.

Since I was most of the day so far in the street, I did not had wifi on.

Also disabling the wifi on the librem 5 is just flipping a switch on the side of the phone.

@joao don't get me wrong, i like what you did and am somewhat jealous cause I never received my librem5 and just gave up on it.
Switching off wifi when not home is just normal sanity and sanitary use ;)
Sounds like a not to bad battery life, but truly hope it will improve drastically still. My current graphene based pixel easily lasts up to 18 hours on 5g with quite extensive use.

@joao the flipping a switch is what i truly wish for on all my future phones. I love hardware switches.

@joao truly amazing, I suspect that with suspend and the goddies that probably come with the bookworm release, I will approach the daily driver stage soon.

@joao I just received mine, and I'm pleasantly surprised by the battery life (because of all the comments I had seen on it). I guess this is all down to work put into optimisation. Compared to the Pinephone, the in-use lifetime seems to be much better. Obviously, currently the Pinephone can suspend and stay asleep for longer, but I get the impression that once suspend support lands, the battery profile in the Librem 5 is going to be much better than the Pinephone.
