Too much (?) for my brain when going into details.

It's easier to read about photo archive (and more) than do it!

I came across an interesting book title: Fizpatrick, Colleen, 2005. Forensic Genealogy. Published by Rice Book Press in Fountain Valley, CA.

The book (discussed at archivehistory.jeksite.com/) is about ex how to determine when a photo was shot by looking for varous clues.

Trying to decide and understand what setting means and which settings I want to use for various photographic materials in VueScan. I've used it for several years, but still overwhelming with all options.

I have been using VueScan for many years. I am not aware of any Linux software that is nowhere near as good as VueScan. Do you know any?

I was looking for one of my photos. Thanks to my tags and descriptions I found the photo within seconds. I have a big backlog, but such metadata is so good to have, including to know what is on the photo - memory fade over time. I use

Today is my pod show "Getting started with the digiKam photo management software" aired on Hacker Public Radio.

I hope it can be useful for someone!

I am very satisfied that I last year changed to digiKam to manage my photos.

Not only that it is a free and open source software (donations are welcome from us users) and available on "all" platforms (Linux, Windows and macOS). It is also a very competent software!

Summer holiday photo contest for photos taken with /e/OS mobile phones is ongoing! Here is my contribution (more may come). See all in the contest in same thread. #/e/os community.e.foundation/t/a-sum

Now I've updated to the latest 8.1 release of digiKam. I will look more into my settings related to new features compared to 7.9 (I never upgraded to 8.0), and generally learn more about the new features. I am so impressed of this free and open software! digikam.org/

Pixelfed versus Vero for photography? I don't use any of them, only learned today Vero exist. As far as I can see, Vero does not communicate with Fediverse, nor opensource. But I have no idea about differences in use case, performance etc etc. Anyone who can enlighten me?

I have started to use to calibrate my monitor. It seems to be very competent, far more compentent than I am on the calibration topic. But I think manage to use it. I use it with my Spyder 5 colorimeter. I have noticed a few issues which I think are related to that I have installed DisplayCAL in form of a on , a container method to install software, it should need some more openings (sw permissions) than default. Recommended sw! displaycal.net/

It's still long time until winter is over, but we are getting there; spring will arrive!

Of unknown reason, I waited a month to upgrade my software to the new 7.9.0 release. I am still happy I moved over to digiKam, primarily as photo catalog manager, but I can also use it for editing etcetera. I intend to use eg and in addition, maybe more (now also ).
