I have started to use #DisplayCAL to calibrate my monitor. It seems to be very competent, far more compentent than I am on the calibration topic. But I think manage to use it. I use it with my Spyder 5 colorimeter. I have noticed a few issues which I think are related to that I have installed DisplayCAL in form of a #FlatPak on #Linux, a container method to install software, it should need some more openings (sw permissions) than default.
