@e33io@fosstodon.org I'm not fond of its mother country but I have a Thinkpad, T14 Gen 1, and it is a nice, if overpriced, computer.

Hello newer users, here are a few neat accounts I suggest checking out (shuffled except for the first one):

@feditips: excellent tips on how to use Mastodon and the wider Fediverse.
@bs: Bad Software ideas
@PetabyteStudios
@RL_Dane
@256: nostalgic screenshots and pictures relating to old computer technology
@mike
@Big_Diggity
@servant

Note that a number of these people are Christians (like me!). Only fair to say; it's your feed.

I follow more users, but these are some.

@servant Why thanks ๐Ÿ˜
The Fediverse is poppin' :)

@RL_Dane @totoroot If you use GNOME Files / Nautilus, you can install sushi. With it you can hit space to toggle a file previewer. Real handy.
I don't think you would use GNOME though ๐Ÿ˜‰

@e33io@fosstodon.org I really like foot, a terminal for Wayland. When using the client/server setup (or when not) it starts very fast, which I like.

Found a neat command recently.
We all know about `apropos`, a.k.a. `man -k`
Well, `man -K` is a lot like `man -k`, except it performs a *full-text* search of all man pages.

Nifty!!

#man #ManPages #UNIX

Quick tip: if you camelCase your hashtags, people who use screen readers will have an easier time with them.

So, for example: #twitterMigration or #TwitterMigration instead of #twittermigration

#accessibility #a11y #fediTips

@RL_Dane I wish every program would let you export data.

Once you get past 99 open tabs, #Fennec / #Firefox Mobile just displays an infinity symbol in the tabs button.

Why ya gotta be so snarky, foxy?

Time to cull tabs and save bookmarks.
I just wish I could export all tabs to a text file, since that's how I keep my bookmarks.

Again, what Mormonism stands for isn't what "Christian" means.

@dallin@fosstodon.org There are significant enough differences between Christianity and Mormonism to make it a different religion. For example, Christianity is monotheistic: Isaiah 43:10; 44:6; 45:5. Unlike Mormonism: _Mormon Doctrine_, p. 163; Articles of Faith, p. 35. And Christianity teaches that you are saved by grace through faith and not by works: Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:28. Unlike Mormonism: _Miracle of Forgiveness_, p. 206; _Articles of Faith_, p. 92.

@reddit_memebot I hate dishonesty. I don't like seeing cool pictures and having to ask if the author is lying or not.

Okay, so... I have a bit of an announcement.

I've created a website for FediFollows which has all the accounts I've ever recommended (that are still working!) organised into nice topics and tags:

โžก๏ธ fedi.directory

You can browse the main directory or the top 100 tags page. (Also considering adding an "all tags" page, if there's demand.)

Please let me know what you think! Any feedback very welcome ๐Ÿ™

(This is why I haven't posted in a few days! ๐Ÿ˜… )

#Fediverse

I decided to give electric shaving a try, since using my blade and soap takes some time an I sometimes am in a hurry. This is the first thing I saw, seriously, an app for a shaver???
What is wrong with us ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@servant I think it includes your own replies to it. Maybe that's it?

@servant Nice to see you're not the kind who would steal it :)

Someday, your favorite band, songs, or albums could just disappear from Spotify or Tidal or YouTube Music, or ALL the streaming platforms.

Buy their music. Physical or DRM-free digital.

One of the things I like about using / is that to the normal computer user its UI is a "password"
