I don't want to spam the town too much, but...

The view is so good it's almost like cheating when taking pictures.

@retronav Check this out: “An Ohio judge has ruled that a Cleveland State University’s virtual scan of a student’s room prior to an online test was unconstitutional. The ruling marks a victory for digital privacy advocates around the country, who have spoken loudly against the practices of online test proctoring for many years.” theverge.com/2022/8/23/2331806

Did some research, it looks like Google is/might/will use the Signal protocol and perhaps support E2EE group chats in the future, and open these up beyond their chat app(s?). 🤞🤞

You want to read a man page for `foo.' *Actually* read it, not just do a quick search or just consult the command-line switches.

Do you: _____

#BOOST for more fun, thanks! ^__^

@RL_Dane The GNOME Help app can view manpages (at least on Ubuntu?) but the UX of getting there is bad (I'm frustrated to say this but I am definitely not surprised about that).
Come to think of it, `man foo > foo` then viewing foo with a plaintext editor sounds like an OK idea. Except the width might be narrow.

@RL_Dane @dallin@fosstodon.org At least with Google Chat, RCS messages can be end-to-end encrypted*. But I don't know how much that means if G-Chat's E2EE method is proprietary/G-Chat only.

*Except group chats I think.

@dallin@fosstodon.org Google has a campaign now: android.com/get-the-message/
Not too long ago I got an Android phone, and went to college. Making friends, we got in a group chat, and eventually me and I think one other in the group were discovered to be the ones with Android, though they didn't mean it in a rude way.

But still, it can cause interpersonal gaps. Harming personal messaging between your devices and a competitor's is one of the saddest forms of I can think of :(

The most sustainable phone is the one in your pocket. Make it last. 🌍💚

@dallin@fosstodon.org Apple's vendor-lock-in with iMessage is particularly bad, because not only does it harm functionality, it hinders social interaction for non-Apple users, and makes Apple's messaging system look superior while doing it. RCS, a new texting system, fixes a lot of problems with traditional SMS and MMS messaging. It has very wide support from pretty much all modern tech, except Apple's (surprise). And so poor messaging between Apple users and everyone else continues.

@Aldi80s Well one big disadvantage of online shopping is that you can't physically see what you are buying. 🙁

Why do I want to watch some of your videos repeatedly
