@tarheel So as I understand it, each server keeps an index of hashtags on its own (maybe it works differently actually but it seems to be this way effectively). So you can go to your server's website ( toot.cafe/ ) and from there, search for hashtags.

I can't help but notice many toots from helpful newbies encouraging you to support the Mastodon Patreon.

It's fine to do that but understand it goes to just two big instances and the official Mastodon dev team.

It does NOT trickle down to YOUR instance. If you want to support your server, donate to it directly. Nearly all the costs of the explosive growth of the past few weeks is borne by local instances.

Mastodon is decentralized. There is no Mastodon Inc. This is not Twitter.

As much as it seems otherwise though, it is ultimately worth it, since it helps me get a better, higher-paying job. But still, wow, it is inefficient!

I don't want to just be posting about numbers like a clock, but the 2 million mark of monthly active users across the network is a pretty big deal. This is going big numbers! Shout out to all the server operators who are absorbing this wave.

Almost 180k new users joined #mastodon yesterday, a new record. This third #twitterMigration wave happened after Musk's Twitter 2.0 ultimatum to #Twitter workers. Each wave is stronger than the previous one. Here is my updated plot showing the three consecutive waves.

Have I mentioned I *really* enjoy working on shaders? Here's some volumetric lighting implemented in URP for Farewell North.

This was done a few months back and I'm still pretty thrilled with the result!

@Frederik_Borgesius It is normal for a lot of programs to remain in the background when you close their window... what's the complaint there?

@don_kosak Thank you, that was kind.
'Uncanny valley' — that's what I was meaning.

@alemacilenti I just set two separate alarms (I use my phone as an alarm).

@don_kosak Oh I'm sorry. I meant that as an interesting fact more than a complaint. It was intriguing

I do 20 minutes; it feels more refreshing than the normal 10. Scientifically, a nap is best at either 20 or 90 minutes, so this makes sense to me.

How long do you all set the snooze duration on your clocks/phones, for your morning alarm?

@andygreenphd Can you try, in infosec.exchange/settings/prof , re-saving your settings? Maybe it checks for the rel="me" thing then.

@256 Melee! Still used today in competitions. What a title
