@Raspberry_Pi@raspberrypi.social I can't believe it. The official Raspberry Pi account posting pornography? Gross and immoral.

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the . On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

One feature I like about #Mastodon: whenever someone modifies a toot that I had boosted, Mastodon notifies me of this modification.

This simple feature has great potential for tackling disinformation that may arise from possible toot modifications.

Hey I won my first match against someone in a college Smash Ultimate tournament! The person I was competing against was kinda rusty though. But hey, I have been getting better! start.gg/tournament/rice-rumbl

@e33io@fosstodon.org It's the Internet, man :)

Developing Mastodon, I strive to use terminology that is familiar to as many people as possible so as to not put up unnecessary barriers in understanding. For this reason I am happy that we went away from calling posts "toots". It has always been a point of friction for people. Not that I dislike branding, quite the opposite, but in my experience receiving feedback over half a decade, it had a negative effect on the platform for little benefit.

@servant As a style, I think they're underrated. When I hear "head coverings", I think of 1700s-ish white bonnets, but they can be modern and stylish.

@RL_Dane I get it. For me, when I see someone make an inept move that causes problems, I tend to get annoyed and often go from annoyance to something worse.

When we say the is a mobile computer in your pocket, this is what we mean.

One of our customers (@primalmotion) hacks on custom versions of firmware for their which always runs the risk of temporarily bricking your computer.

When that did inevitably happen, they were able to connect their Librem 5 to their hardware flashing equipment and run the same tools you'd run on your Linux laptop to re-flash working firmware.

@PetabyteStudios Yikes, some tech people can get funny about cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Disallowing it entirely?

The Fediverse has its own video platform called @peertube.

You can follow PeerTube accounts from Mastodon, for example try following craftykat@diode.zone

You can watch and interact with the videos entirely within Mastodon, or on PeerTube itself.

Here's an example of a PeerTube server:

➡️ fedi.video

If you see an account you like, you can copy and paste its account address into Mastodon to follow it there. When new videos are published, they will appear in your Mastodon timeline.

@RL_Dane I'd consider it hateful to call someone an "imbecile" or a "moron".

@RL_Dane It seems to be needed! I've worried about new users being alienated by the huge computer science presence here.

@rubenwardy Seems like a good idea to me, you combat spam and get paid for it

What do you think about #SignalStories?

This probably describes me better than any intro
