Can I ask a favour?

I'm really grateful to be recommended as a follow, but can you also mention the website (fedi.tips) when you do so?

At the moment getting a lot of questions which are answered on the site, and it's difficult to keep up with every question. I'm happy to keep answering, but also afraid I'll miss someone's question.

If they know about the site from the beginning, they will have a chance of finding the answers themselves if I do miss their question.

Thanks ๐Ÿ™

@roipoussiere I like to explain the Fediverse's federation by using email as an example.

The 'House in The Hollow' isn't just about the mysterious Manor House.

Surrounding the Manor is a dark woodland called 'Braebrook Forest'.

Explore the woodland to discover the lost Manor House.

@servant @Big_Diggity I like Twenty ร˜ne Pilรธts, Halfโ€ขAlive, TobyMac, and videogame music, often 8-bit-era chiptune.

@servant No particular reason why, time aside. I suppose one sermon a week works fine for me. Though the college I am part of right now has about eight sermons per week, so I suppose I listen to a lot!

Musk bought Twitter. Good or bad?

@servant Currently I do not listen to sermons outside of church and my college's requirements.

Update: 49,215 new users across different Mastodon servers since yesterday. Probably a lot of them are actually from yesterday. My crawler only runs once a day so I get a bit of a delayed view of things.

@e33io@fosstodon.org Yeah, I have blocked or muted several users already, and a handful of servers entirely I think. And some keywords.
I love being able to block whole servers, it really shows how good a concept the Fediverse's federation is.

@bearmine for folks in the US, it might be easier to think of Mastodon as a country, and instances as states. You can just start in any state, each state has its own rules, and if you find that itโ€™s not a good fit, you can move to a different state to have an experience that you like better. Your posts live in whatever state youโ€™re a part of, but can be shared with other folks in other states.

@arscslvt@fosstodon.org @murph Also, you can block servers that don't moderate the way you believe correct. E.g. if you block badsite.com then all @ badsite.com users will disappear from your feed, cannot follow you (I think), etc.

Hello @stafford_greer! You joined mastodon.social, which is really huge. If you want more community, here are a few ideas:
โ€ข Check out your server's local timeline. In it you can see other @ mastodon.social users posting. Find interesting people there and hit follow.
โ€ข Consider choosing a different server. Again mastodon.social is huge. You might like choosing a server that is focused on your interests. Such as fosstodon.org if you are into tech.

@bearmine Perhaps it has to do with email's age. I think back in that day people were more willing to do hard things โ€” though yeah it really isn't that hard at all!
