Handibox is an accessibility tool that will allow Human-Computer interaction with people who have some degree of motor disability. Through #Handibox, users can carry out elementary activities such as using the Internet, writing emails, and more!
The team, Alejandro, Fabio, and Matias, seeks to integrate with other #accessibility applications in GNOME and are looking for guidance from the accessibility team. They also need community help precompiling libraries like dlib. #GNOMEChallenge
@gnome @joao would this app be worth adding to the list? I don't know if it'll even be possible to adapt the app for the form factor, ARM, or memory constraints. 🤔 https://tracker.pureos.net/w/pureos/mobile_optimized_apps/
Current 'security measures' and 'best practises' do not classify privacy as an issue and treat users like children. Creating prisons for us.

Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦♂️
PRE 👏 TTY 👏 PLEASE
And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)
Boost if I'm right.

@lunduke I think it's because Google is cutting funding.
@purism how good is Microsoft Office 365 and One drive?
My wifes' school has both and the executive are pushing Microsoft services over Google.
The #GUADEC fun doesn't end with the sessions, we have social events and activities too! Take a look at what we've got planned: https://blogs.gnome.org/engagement/2020/07/16/social-events-at-guadec-2020/

@purism thanks for these posts. I enjoy reading them.
Surveillance capitalism is the same as climate change, but for data:
- Some people have been warning about its consequences for years
- Most people don't care because they don't feel concerned, they can't see it affecting them
- A few companies are making a lot of damage with the help of governments
- When we will face the consequences it will be too late
- We can still do something about it, and the sooner the better
@lunduke Just because they didn't fit the Elf's expectations of beauty, Elf's discarded them to the swamps of the world! #greenisthenewblack
@gnome my timezone (UTC+8) puts the event in the middle of the night. Is there a way I could watch and still be involved?
@teknari@1929.com @purism to do that you'll need access to the cellular modem and I don't think we can that level of access with any modem on market. We are able to do that with wifi when a network has multiple access points.
An analysis of the Zoom #privacy policy and all that's wrong with it:

In short: better don't use this for anything sensitive and don't make other people install the Zoom app - ever.

Mozilla's move to @matrix has officially been opened for the general public last night. Blog post here: http://exple.tive.org/blarg/2020/02/20/synchronous-messaging-were-live/
You can find the Mozilla #a11y team here: https://matrix.to/#/#Accessibility:mozilla.org.
And if you missed my introduction to the #Riot web interface for screen reader users in December, here it is: https://marcozehe.de/2019/12/20/how-to-get-around-matrix-and-riot-with-a-screen-reader/
@coding_hedgehog@mastodon.me.uk @todd once they get the Bluetooth module working, it should work the same as your Linux computer. Making the interface a seamless experience on the phone is another problem 😛
I am into science and climate activism. I love to learn about social issues and to challenge my own perspectives. I'm also into free and open-source software and I am back in University studying computer science.
