@thibaultamartin Good toot guides! I am trying to develop a gtk vpn app which would use openvpn in the backend to connect but offers a gui to let users import multiple server configs. But I am having trouble with finding good documentation on how to execute openvpn with sudo permissions from gtk. I have found that I need to to use polkit but couldn't find much documentation about it. Do you have any pointers?

@Piejacker875 flatpaks are great and I wish it is the official distribution method for @lbry but sadly as of now it is not. Give the official appimage a try maybe it will fix those setting reset issues.

@Piejacker875 is the app up-to-date? I have been using it for more than 6 months and I didn't face any crashes or setting resets. I use the official appimage. Memory is still an issue though it keeps growing if the app is open for a couple of days, but I usually shutdown my system everynight so it hasn't been much of a pain. I don't think there are any alternative clients yet.

@tbernard I didn't know three finger gestures existed on linux. Not sure if this is related but firefox tabs close with a three finger tap

@dos @purism did I just see a back gesture 😍 looks very promising. I should start saving some money now!!

@Blort Just curious, how does keeping a local copy of watched content a privacy concern? That is how lbry protocol is designed to work and that's what makes it decentralized.

@todd @purism I had to post it here as I couldn't manage to send messages anymore to the support room on librem chat

@todd @purism I strongly support what purism stands for and appreciate all the hard work you guys are doing to create a more secure and privacy respecting internet services and devices. However, the maintenance of existing services is quite awful. Librem chat has been sluggish for two weeks and it has become unusable since the last two days.

For the nerds:

After fighting performance issues with React for 97 years, we decided to rewrite the app frontend fully natively.

It's *finally* fast🏎️

And it turned out these features came almost free.

Follow open.lbry.com/@lbrytech for more next week (inc. test release)

@nebunez as you probabably already know uses a decentralised protocol similar to BitTorrent for their data network. So if you want to help them you can keep the downloaded files and use the app so others in your location have faster access to that content. If you don't want to participate in that you can disable that under settings.

@BrodieOnYoutube could you please post lbry links as well in your posts. I keep having to go and manually search for your videos on . While it's not too much work for me, it would be a bit more convenient though πŸ™‚

@purism I wish it has a H series processor instead of U series which are throttled a lot. Though with the active cooling, would be interesting to see how often the throttling happens. Do you guys have any figures on that? I Would love to buy one but holding back to see those.

@tbernard I was looking for some ideas to help improve Gnome app ecosystem. The repo looks empty I can't find any files listing ideas. What an i missing?
