Just tried out #LBRY. Don't know how I feel about it. They push to download the app to get rid of ads and manage extra settings like third party data, etc.

I did - installed the .deb file... But it's just an Electron version of the website that uses more memory than the website.

With that said, the interface is decent and I like some of their ideas, like tipping creators, but I just don't know how I feel about the experience.

Also, why would I want to save the download of every video I watch?

@nebunez as you probabably already know uses a decentralised protocol similar to BitTorrent for their data network. So if you want to help them you can keep the downloaded files and use the app so others in your location have faster access to that content. If you don't want to participate in that you can disable that under settings.

Ah, I didn't know that. That makes more sense. But I don't have a lot of space on this laptop so it's not very feasible to do so. Now I would feel bad for taking and not giving back... hmm
