https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/iotas is great for note taking / lists and gnome-text-editor for generic text. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about saving to a file.
With the fixes made in the last #phosh release and those in flight for 0.43 regarding on screen keyboard, text input, text completion and copy/paste together with small app fixes here and there I'm really starting to enjoy text input on mobile and grab the phone more often although the laptop is nearby.
I consider that a good sign 😃

Prav - A Free Software Challenger To WhatsApp
By me and @badrihippo
October 13, 2024
Do you care about Free Software but still end up using WhatsApp for your messaging needs? It is ironic that a large part of the Free Software community in India is still using a proprietary software — #WhatsApp — for their everyday communications.

Thanks to Benson and contrapunctus for reviewing.
you can also see @arunmani 's work on improved quick setting in the picture above and here's a quick demo (already landed on main):
Hi All,
I recently got a few Meshtastic devices, but was sad to see there is no Linux based GUI for it (though an excellt Python CLI library/App). So I rolled up my sleeves and make a basic GUI in GTK4/Libadwaita! I think it turned out pretty well.
If you test it out and find bugs, please let me know!
I've been experimenting with @agx 's phosh-osk-keyboard , and hacked together a script to automatically change the shortcuts based on the window titles. #mobilelinux #hymo

I usually get 'hey' for hey swipes, but sometimes hwy/hgwy. Enable multiple suggestions, and maybe cull some words from your list.
gsettings set sm.puri.phosh.osk.Completers.Pipe command 'sh -c "swipeGuess /path/to/words-qwerty-en_gb 5 | tr \"\t\" \"\n\""'
We've got to do something right with #LinuxMobile when #Android now gains a feature to run #Linux https://androiddev.social/@MishaalRahman/113290317583072192
The OSK panel in mobile settings is becoming more complete. After adding layout selection last cycle, selecting the default text completer is on its way now too. The data is provided by the OSK so new completers are picked up automatically.
Any hints how to get a response from #Fairphone support? It's been almost a week since I contacted them regarding a warranty case (a broken hinge on an only 3mo old Fairbuds XL 🎧) and except for the auto responder it's total radio silence. (I''m pretty dependent on the noise canceling feature).
Do you have any experience in Python and GTK4? Do you want to help maintain an app with literally tens of users? Do you hate every web browser to the point you want to avoid it altogether?
Web Apps is the app for you (to help maintain)! I have marked a few issues as 'contribution welcome' here: https://codeberg.org/eyekay/webapps/issues?q=&type=all&state=open&labels=230053&milestone=0&assignee=0&poster=0&fuzzy=false
University is starting to keep me busier than usual, but I don't want to let it create yet another abandonware strewn in the GNOME ecosystem.
