The first stable release of the new 1.18 series is now available containing the collective fixes and improvements put into all the previous 1.17 releases by the many people who have contributed to Wesnoth over the last two and a half years! For more details see https://r.wesnoth.org/t57843 as usual, or take a look through https://www.wesnoth.org/start/1.18/
With a bit of help from #phoc the next phosh-osk-stub release can (optionally) hide when a keyboard gets attached.
There is a need for more contact points (doctors, clinics, etc.) for those affected - and not fewer. Post-viral diseases should also be firmly anchored in medical training. It's good that there are at least initiatives such as Long Covid Austria or the Long Covid Support Group (UK/international), because without exchange with other sufferers you quickly feel left alone by the system. I have tagged version 0.1.0 of livi
It now supports (thanks to @rmader ) #dmabuf import and uses #gtk's new graphics offload widget which can increase 🔋 life.
(#livi is small video player targeting mobile device - but works on large screens too 😃 📼 📽️)
Ability to easily build custom keyboard layouts is really awesome.
Thanks you @agx

Excellent technical note on dark-skies-friendly approaches to outside lighting here: https://www.friendsofthelakedistrict.org.uk/lighting-policy
Important because light pollution really messes up insects and birds, wastes energy, and pisses off your neighbours.
Hoping to do something about this locally
We now provide nightly builds for Phosh and some related 📦 targeting #Debian Trixie thus making the current development
versions easier to test on Debian and Debian based distributions like @mobian (and hopefully in the future #PureOS):

New #umockdev release which records and restores SELinux context for mocked /dev nodes, fixes musl compatibility, build with meson 1.4, and some test fixes.

I kept unlocking the 📱 a lot to check a cars charging status. Using #phosh's launcher-box lockscreen-plugin and the LauncherEntry DBus protocol we can simplify that and have the information easily accessible:
The drm subsystem maintainer tool, affectionately named dim, now supports applying patches and series using b4.
See the two new subcommands, dim b4-shazam and dim b4-shazam-branch.
b4 v0.13 or later is required to properly filter out trailers from CI and build bots.
For those of you interested in our recent video offloading / zero-copy playback work: I quickly put together some #livi #flatpak s to make it easy to test stuff already. Compositor offloading should work on all semi-recent Intel/AMD and a variety of ARM64 devices.
If you trust the sandbox you can get them here:

I expect quite a few people hitting driver bugs, so please help tracking those down :)
Looks like spring is coming: just turned on automatic high contrast in #phosh for the first time this year.
Are you forced by your #bank to use proprietary #apps? Have a look at background shared on the @fsfe 's discussion list by @floriansnow from a #FreeSoftware angle:
https://lists.fsfe.org/pipermail/discussion/2024-February/013383.html
Florian's questions:
* What's your experience with your bank?
* How do you do your #banking?
* Is there an important angle that I missed?
#AskFedi Anyone know of a good music library manager for Mobile Linux? (esp. Phosh/GNOME)
I like the aesthetic and background playback features of Amberol, but it can't do playlists or scrobble my listens to last.fm. I like the functionality of Lollypop, but it crashes too much and the UI/UX is awful.
Here's my criteria:
- Adaptive for mobile/touch
- Scrobble to last.fm
- Playlists/Artists/Albums
- Background Playback
Also being pretty would be nice.
