I kept unlocking the 📱 a lot to check a cars charging status. Using 's launcher-box lockscreen-plugin and the LauncherEntry DBus protocol we can simplify that and have the information easily accessible:

The drm subsystem maintainer tool, affectionately named dim, now supports applying patches and series using b4.

See the two new subcommands, dim b4-shazam and dim b4-shazam-branch.

b4 v0.13 or later is required to properly filter out trailers from CI and build bots.

For those of you interested in our recent video offloading / zero-copy playback work: I quickly put together some #livi #flatpak s to make it easy to test stuff already. Compositor offloading should work on all semi-recent Intel/AMD and a variety of ARM64 devices.

If you trust the sandbox you can get them here:

I expect quite a few people hitting driver bugs, so please help tracking those down :)

Looks like spring is coming: just turned on automatic high contrast in for the first time this year.

Are you forced by your #bank to use proprietary #apps? Have a look at background shared on the @fsfe 's discussion list by @floriansnow from a #FreeSoftware angle:

lists.fsfe.org/pipermail/discu

Florian's questions:

* What's your experience with your bank?
* How do you do your #banking?
* Is there an important angle that I missed?

#AskFedi Anyone know of a good music library manager for Mobile Linux? (esp. Phosh/GNOME)

I like the aesthetic and background playback features of Amberol, but it can't do playlists or scrobble my listens to last.fm. I like the functionality of Lollypop, but it crashes too much and the UI/UX is awful.

Here's my criteria:
- Adaptive for mobile/touch
- Scrobble to last.fm
- Playlists/Artists/Albums
- Background Playback

Also being pretty would be nice.

With some preparatory work to allow plugins to use objects from #phosh core and @arunmani 's nice work on custom quick settings already merged the often asked for caffeine toggle is within reach:

#gtk #gnome #LinuxMobile

In preparation for the upcoming #phosh release we've tagged gmobile 0.0.6 gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/g

This release adds a number of new devices contributed by @fakeshell

@vantablack Regarding convergence. The compositor used by PureOS stable atm is 6mo old. There's been tons of improvements that make docked mode more feasible. I'm using it on a daily basis and am not aware about any open crash reports in that area atm.

@andyholmes@floss.social Would be great to finally support this for system prompts too gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gcr/-/m

Ideas how to move these forward welcome!

If you're using in docked mode a lot and (like me) play videos while doing other things then upcoming changes in to have apps always-on-top and keybindings to move windows into screen corners might be helpful:

Happy I ❤️ Free Software Day everyone! Thank you to all the #FreeSoftware contributors out there who support #softwarefreedom ❤️❤️❤️ #ilovefs

Don't let this day pass without saying thank you! sharepic.fsfe.org/#ilovefs

MiniDebCamp Hamburg 2024 will happen from Sun March 3rd until Sun March 10th, one month from now: good times and hacking together on Debian & FLOSS. On site food and accomodation, perfect for Debian Sprints. Still room for more sponsors, and for some registrations: see wiki.debian.org/DebianEvents/d.

After three months of development, Gameeky reaches its first public release.

This project is the result of nearly fifteen years of experience contributing to education projects and mentoring young learners.

I am happy to share it everyone!

I grabbed a bunch of old notes and turned them into an intro blog post giving a quick overview of distributed systems fundamentals: ferd.ca/a-distributed-systems-

@linmob Just so that no one panics: Even without `GSK_RENDERER=gl` falls back to that renderer automatically. It prints a warning for every surface though so setting the env var does make sense.

@benedikt That requires setup of yet another count on another payment provider. I've done that now.
