@eccentricShaft @kop316 Just to fight the disingenuous: I can fully subscribe to what Chris said there and can add games, giving talks using the phones usb-c output for DP, playing music not only with headphones but also car audio systems via BT (including song information in the cars dash), …
I wouldn't say we have still work to do but who hasn't? This might still be a niche compared to proprietary mobile OSes but there's plenty of people using phones like the #librem5 as daily drivers.
@awai @kop316 @marcellinusme Add to that the fact that many Android apps don't even bother to start when they hit a non-vendor Android claiming it has been "rooted". Same story when you want to run without google play services.
@kop316 @marcellinusme Also an important point to some of us: AOSP is open-source, but its development is quite locked down, and only serves Google's interests... Working on a Linux-based distro gives developers more leverage to contribute and shape the ecosystem in a way that benefits the community, rather than one single company

While at that I put notifications and media player widget into the same
scrolled window and have that use more vertical space so things are (hopefully) less clumsy to use.

While one could get back to an ongoing call on #phosh's lockscreen by swiping
to the right it wasn't clear if there was still a call ongoing. This will be
improved by showing a notification on the lockscreen making it hard to miss (and which we can likely also use to switch between calls once the calls app supports it):

(sorry for the repost, had to convert video as it otherwise wouldn't be picked up correctly)
Simplifying audio device selection in #phosh (which also needs a tweak in #pipewire to get nice icons on #LinuxMobile too):
@linmob Congratulations. I enjoy reading it every week!

Biggest downside of running #phosh on my phone and laptop: you sometimes try to swipe away notifications on the laptop although it's not a touchscreen 😜 - just happened again .
#OpenCL was added to https://mesamatrix.net/ :3
thanks Nora!
@okennedy yeah, as @devrtz says: they were around all along and can be enabled via https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phosh/-/wikis/Configuration#under-smpuriphosh - it'd wait for 0.29.0 though as the lack of an animation could make the switching a bit surprising
@eliasr It was uploaded to octarine for early testing at release day (https://lists.community.puri.sm/pipermail/librem-5-announce/2023-June/000015.html) . The PureOS archive restructure makes tickling down to Byzantium a bit slower.
The transition between the normal and HC theme is now supported by an animation making it less surprising (video is at 2 x speed):

@devrtz added a sensor panel to mobile-settings that allows you to enable automatic HC and tweak the threshold at which ambient light intensity it kicks in:

It's summer on the northern hemisphere again 😎 so #phosh's automatic high contrast mode got two updates that are already merged and hence will very likely be in 0.29.0:

@manut Maybe the display section in phoc.ini didn't match? Try `wlr-randr` in a terminal. This is how the output looks at scale 0.5:
