Where can we track machines Linus has used? Is there any other kernel developer whose daily driver is known?
@sir

@JordiGH
Unrelated, but I also did this to {10-help-text,51-cloudguest,80-livepatch} because they were annoying/unhelpful.

It would be nice to have some estimate of number of users (number of dowloads, by app version, perhaps?). Stuff that FOSS-loving individuals can bring to their employers who want a business case for going open source/distributing on F-Droid.

science, paywalls, the jpeg is strong with this one

Idea: NFC receipts as an alternative to paper receipts

I don't want to give you my email address, but you encode the receipt data onto an NFC pad I can tap my phone to, we can save paper without giving you that oh-so-tasty data

@Wolf480pl@niu.moe
Is there a rule like this for javascript as well?
@sir

Transparency helps, since the scandals get out before getting big*.

The `mv` command is poorly named, since what it really does is rename a file. KDE's "move" sounds like an accurate depiction of what moving is about. (Though, ideally, you'd delete the original file as it's being copied, but that's not how most filesystems work).

They're VC-funded... trying to be the opposite of GitHub could pay off.

Years ago, I had this cheap $10 "gaming" mouse I bought maybe on ebay or dealextreme. It was perfect: shaped well, no weird, sticky texture. I lost it (maybe left at a friends house) and never saw it again. Tried to buy one online, but I think the model was discontinued. I'd like to get a good mouse for work: Does anyone have any mouse recommendations?

Contributing to someone's open source projects is the most sincere form of flattery.

I would say check out Grand Rapids, but Holland, MI is a little better if you like snow.

Fav: file sharing with public links
Least fav: hidden files not getting synced... but sometimes I want them to be.
Missing : sync symbolic links. It bugs me so much that we don't have this simple feature that does wonders for organization. Sometimes is makes me think I would prefer git for file syncronization.

2019: Started using librem.one email service (alongside gmail). Ditched 3 more commonly-used (weekly) proprietary apps on my phone. Set up a funkwhale server to help loved ones switch from proprietary music streaming.
2020: ditch Android
2021: ditch macOS
2022: delete Google Account

How did you improve your privacy and security in 2019? What are you looking to do more of in 2020?
